Caps_Shield Posted June 2, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2021 I have been half paying attention to this topic on Carnival for many reasons, one being that I don't sail on another line until December. But I may do a thing and book my family on a surprise cruise in July out of Galveston, Tx on the Breeze I believe. So my question is this. I understand Florida but what about Texas and Carnival? Does anyone know as of yet what the mask rules are in July out of Galveston? My whole family has been vaxed so that isn't a issue. The only thing holding me back is the not knowing about the rules and regulations for cruises as of yet. You would think we would know soon as the cruise I am looking at isn't too far away. Short answer is no one knows yet because Carnival hasn’t said anything. They are being very secretive and in my humble, gut opinion I think there are going to be some things that we just won’t know until we are actually on the ship (bars, spa, casino, punchliner being open/closed, waterworks, ropes course, sky ride being limited capacity/hours, etc.) here is the link to Carnival’s current protocols: https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols?icid=advisory_cruisehealth_052521

I would personally be leery of booking a july cruise. Ships still arent even fully crewed up. I'm expecting the start dates to get pushed back.
asalligo Posted June 2, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2021 They posted this today, looks like no mask when able to distance and mask when they deem not able.

That is what i figured this to be. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Looks like that is the end of a good idea. After posting this I read a bunch of posts where people seem to think they are cruising around July 4th.

After posting this I read a bunch of posts where people seem to think they are cruising around July 4th. It's true carnival said they HOPE to resume with the vista, horizon and the breeze in july. Hope seems a bit iffy of a term. As far as I know they havent scheduled the test cruises yet. Still hiring and vaccinating crew. Lol have you looked at prices? They have about doubled for the first couple of months. I'm just not seeing enough to make me think vista can leave. Heck they still are figuring out protocols. Havent even posted them yet. ... kinda like my contractor who is doing a good job, he just seems to have a problem with figuring out how long the job will take to finish.. he says this week, missed 3 self imposed deadlines.
csm5986142 Posted June 3, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2021 We are booked on the Breeze's first sailing (July 15th). I'm about 50/50 on whether it will really sail or not. But I did go ahead and book airfare and hotel. On May 27th we received an email from Carnival extending our final payment from May 31st to June June 14th, citing "their continued evaluation of many details." And "their need for a few more days to make some final decisions." Also stating "We expect to provide further info prior to June 14th and allow those of you who have not yet made final payment to wait until we can provide greater clarity on sailing guidelines." So...I've been watching my email very closely for more information, but nothing so far. I think they are either going to cancel the cruise, or require passengers to be vaccinated...but just my guess. I think they will sail in July, but don't expect it to be a normal cruise as in 2019 normal.

With the next covid spike expected to match the onset of the fall flu season (albeit smaller than last year due to vaccinations), it won't be back to 2019 cruising for a long time. I'd wager that at a minimum it will be at least until next summer before the testing and vaccinated checks subside but possibly longer.
csm5986142 Posted June 3, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 3, 2021 I agree. We are vaccinated and willing to wear masks everywhere, etc. I don't anticipate any rules that will be a deal-breaker. We don't expect cruising to be "normal" for a while, but are willing to take what we can get! We have been to Disney World twice and Hawaii once since the pandemic started, and had to wear masks everywhere except the pool (even had to wear masks climbing Diamond Head...thought I was going to die!). We didn't love it, but were so happy to be on vacation, we adapted.
Anyislandwilldo Posted June 3, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 3, 2021 It's getting to be so confusing. Hopefully we get the full scoop once people actually get out on the water.
