Best Ketchikan Bear Excursions (no planes)

Suggestions for excursion operators to see bears in Ketchikan in August 2021.  It doesn't look like the one originally operated through Carnival is being offered.  No small planes please.  My dad had a Piper Vagabond and I never got past airsickness.

I can only tell you that Alaska Shore Excursions does list a bear tour by boat to Traitor's Cove as operating this season. It's in the same price range as an air tour, although the one by air that I was interested in probably won't go this year.

I'm going in September and want to find something to see bears as well.

I don't know the answer to this but you have to consider how much salmon will be available and thus how many bears will be there in Sept.  When does the typical salmon spawning season stop.

Kings and Silvers spawn early July through mid-August, but Pinks (the most numerous) spawn through the end of September/early October.  The bears don't care which type they eat 😀

I booked a boat tour to Traitor’s Cove for our 7/24 Holland America cruise. I believe the tour us run by AKHummers. You can check them out as they are operating this year.
