Anyone have any news on these sailings yet? From what carnival told be in a phone call is that so far, these haven't been deemed vaccinated cruises yet.

I would think that all Carnival sailings through the end of the year, will be deemed vaccinated sailings. I have nothing to back up my assumption. It just seems like a reasonable response to this pandemic.

We're still waiting to hear about September cruises.  I'm hoping that this week they'll let us know which ones are going.  I also imagine it will be vaccinated cruises for a while.  At this point, I couldn't imagine them trying to figure out and implement yet another set of protocols.

I have October and December cruises and I am guessing that at least the October Cruise will be 95% vaccinated or a very high percentage vaccinated. I was just looking at excursions this morning and bubble excursions are now showing up in one ports.

We have a November cruise booked and if we haven't heard anything by our final payment date we will cancel. We have five adults and two cabins, but one person won't be vaccinated. If he is going to be treated like third-class steerage then we won't be going.

The people in the cabin with the unvaccinated person need to go on bubble tours also.

Oct and Nov are too far out to have any definitive protocols in place. There have been only two sailings so far and both were successful. Lets see what happens when they go to 3, 4, 5, 8, 12 ships sailing to see what happens. As long as current protocols are working, they have little incentive to change protocols if the cabins are sold out. Obviously, they could be less restrictive on the number of unvaxxed passengers, but if there is little value in it cost wise, there is no reason to consider it. It comes down to numbers. If we increase unvaxxed to 10% and open up the kids club, we will increase revenue by $50k (made up number). But, opening that up to 10% is going to cost us $40k (made up). Is it worth the risk for $10k in revenue? Actuaries, accountants, and finance advisors will be setting the tone for those discussions. Obviously, they would say if we keep it at 5%, don't add the extra expense, and just add 10 more cabins of vaxxed instead of 50 cabins of unvaxxed we make more money and remove all risks.

I can guarantee there are teams running the analytics like this through AI, business intelligence, and other high end tools to make a decision.

That is very useful information to know that "Bubble excursions" are showing up.

That means people with currently booked cruises can go online and if that shows up in their list they know their cruise will still be requiring unvaccinated cruisers to have limitations.

That is an interesting perspective.  What has also been mentioned is that there are a lot of vaccinated cruisers willing to pay to go cruising so why would they spend more money on restrictions when they don't have to?

Alaska is fully vaccinated cruises so it will be interesting to see how full those ships are (aka were they able to fill the ship with vaccinated cruisers to make money).

That is my concern as well, but I will wait and see.  There are two bubble excursion for Nassau right now and none for the other ports, at least not yet.  My daughter is 14 and will not be vaccinated (she is home schooled and very low risk) and if 95% vaccinated is required or you are required to go on the bubble excursions I will probably just leave her home and have her as a no-show since I am vaccinated.  This was a free cruise through the casino so it is not like it is costing me not to take her.

I'll be on the 8/24 sailing to Alaska 🙂

My 14 year old would be upset if I left him at home. But he is vaccinated so we're good to go cruising :0

She understands why she would be left and she is pretty spoiled with travel and cruising. We usually go on two to three cruises a year and the one she is looking forward to is May 2022, we are going on a 9 day Alaskan cruise.  So I hope by then Alaska is all sorted and vaccine will not be required but once again it is a waiting game.

Getting her vaccinated would probably be the best choice since it would help remove the worry about cancelling/rescheduling cruises.

It also means she is protected from a deadly virus.

(Not interested in an argument btw. We have no idea how long these restrictions will last)

Not sure if everyone knows this yet or not but if you use oxygen or on dialysis you won’t be able to cruise this year. My sister is on oxygen and we just found out today that we cannot go on our November Mardi Gras sailing. So disappointed but I understand. Changed it to as Alaska cruise May 2022. Fingers crossed.

Can certainly understand your concerns but keeping the big picture in perspective, it’s not a matter of him being treated like third-class steerage, it’s a matter of an entire industry doing all they can to survive.

On land I could give a rats ass who is or isn’t vaccinated. I have full faith in the vaccines.

But out at sea, on what the critics of the cruise industry call floating Petri dishes, it is vital for them to do all they can to make sure an outbreak of more than 10 or so people never occurs, and extremely vital that nobody dies either on the cruise or shortly thereafter.

Sorry for the inconvenience it may cause you, but just as the government won’t force anyone to take the jab, nobody is forcing him not to either. It’s his decision, but like all decisions, he has to live with the limitations any business might impose, and the rest of you unfortunately will have to live with his decision also.

How do you know if it's a bubble excursion? Does it specifically say this?

You said that a lot better than I could have.

We're at a concerning point right now as infection rates are rising again thanks to the newest mutation of the Coronavirus making its' way through concentrations of mostly unvaccinated people.  And as someone who both enjoys cruising and is a Carnival shareholder I  just don't see how the cruise industry can stray from the path of vaccinated cruises for the foreseeable future.

It's been posted a few times but doesnt hurt to repeat it as not everyone knows as you point out.

I've also heard it has to do with all the covid equipment they had to lead up per the cdc to turn into onboard labs, so idk this equipment will be removed 6 months later if space to take care of people on oxygen is cited as HAL has. Sorry you didnt know. I'm sure it's a disappointment.

I am thinking, and wanting,  the rest of the year to be vaccinated. it would be smart.

Given the surge in covid cases this summer BEFORE we have even gotten to the usual fall/winter peal flu season, it is very likely the current protocols are in place through not only the rest of the year, but we'll into next year. I see no evidence (willingness of public) that enough of society will get vaccinated and/or take precautions if not vaccinated to prevent another massive covid surge this fall/winter...hence get use to the current protocols as they're going to be around for awhile.
