Sounds ominous.....

Has been the case that us booking with Friends & Family discount are not allowed to also have any Carnival shareholder benefit.

I would think that was acceptable considering the discounts on offer.

Any Carnival shareholder booked a UK Staycation cruise using Blue Light Card and then had their Shareholder Benefit refused.

No, I used BLC and had no issues adding shareholder OBC. Was for a Princess UK cruise, but gather its all dealt with by the same team.

Card available to NHS staff, amongst others. Offers various discounts.

One of my friends got rather excited when he found out that his ex-wife could get 25% discount at KFC with a blue light card 🤣🐓

It obviously isnt because I have 2 Staycation/Seacation cruises booked with Princess and Cunard both using Blue Light Card and Princess have granted my shareholder benefit but Cunard have refused.

The shareholder benefit is typically not available with any heavily discounted rate. This includes BLC/F&F staycation fares etc.

The BLC offer has been different for staycation cruises compared to normal. Princess cruises out of the U.K. may be deal with by the same team but often have different terms.

This is what it says…

This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account.

It seems to depend on the interpretation of “reduced rate”

That's interesting. Princess seem to be offering the "plus" package as complimentary if you use BLC (at least, that's what it says on my booking), so wonder if that's why it's not classed as a fare reduction. Seems a bit mean to not allow shareholder benefit though. I always thought that applied regardless of offers.

I must admit, the BLC discount far exceeds the shareholder OBC.

Well I booked Princess Seacation on first day of release before they were giving discount for BLC. We purchased "plus" package and have since had our cruise refared using BLC but there is no mention of complimentary "plus" package and discount given isnt equal in price.

We just purchased as plus package and were given the BLC price. But on the medallion app it showed the crew incentive, drinks package and WiFi as "with compliments of BLC" with a value that far exceeded the actual cost of the package. Can't see that now as its been replaced with my shareholder OBC.

I'll be paying final balance in about 2 weeks.  After which I'll put in for the shareholder OBC and see what happens....

You can apply now. No need to wait until after you have paid the final balance.

I’ve booked two cruises on Britannia using the BLC and was refused my shareholders OBC for both with an explanatory email reply. I’m not too disappointed as the BLC discount far exceeds any OBC as a shareholder and that which comes with the current staycation cruises. I also see that the Princess and Cunard discounts aren’t anywhere near as generous as the P and O one so perhaps that’s why people are getting the shareholder benefit. Nor are the benefits as generous with RCCL cruises!

I was rejected for Shareholder benefit on a Britannia and Iona seacation that had been booked with a BLC. However for the Princess one I was given $50!

They said as I'd received up to 50% discount on the fare they were unable to apply any further promotions.

I strongly suspect that the BLC discount will prove insufficiently profitable and disappear.

If anyone’s managed to add the shareholder bonus to it as well, they’ve done well.

Its only available for the UK cruises. BLC gives a bit of extra OBC in normal times.
