costalota Posted July 13, 2021 #26 Share Posted July 13, 2021 I`m not sure if this was the case but there is a cut off time between booking and set sail date, we got refused once for the same reason few years back on Oriana. Don`t quote me but I think it`s 30 days I could be wrong though. You can apply before you pay the balance

wowzz Posted July 13, 2021 #28 Share Posted July 13, 2021 As a matter of interest, I applied on July 6th for the obc for a Princess cruise in October 21, and a P&O cruise in March 22. The request was sent to Carnival UK. Got a reply today, saying that the obc was being applied to the P&O cruise, and that my request was being forwarded to Princess for actioning. Obviously, I am impressed by the response, but I didn't realise that obc requests were handled by different departments. I always thought that shareholder obc requests were handled by a single department.

No they are not same department I sent my shareholder benefit request to a e-mail I have for Princess benefits for my Seacation in September and it was granted within 2 days. I also applied to Cunard to e-mail address of their website for applying for Shareholder Benefit for my Seacation in August and reply took longer but they refused saying it was a good discount I had on BLC so not applying Shareholder Benefit where obviously Princess are. To be honest though the discount I got on my Cunard cruise was far better than on Princess using BLC.

Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and, cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. It seems to depend on the interpretation of “reduced rate” Brian It would be difficult to argue a 45% BLC discount was not a reduced rate!

That is why I am not to concerned with regards to questioning why they have refused it as we have only paid £599 for top grade BA balcony for 7nts which is fantastic value for money so not too worried about £30pp OBC. LifeonMars Posted July 21, 2021 #33 Share Posted July 21, 2021 (edited) The Carnival website shows shareholder discount in days, where as UK have started showing nights. This does make a difference as you can be onboard for 7 days but only 6 nights. Which can double the amount of shareholders benefit. https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f Edited July 21, 2021 by LifeonMars

It is no difference from P&O nights or Carnival days. Look at this 6 day carnival cruise on board for 7 days, this would be classified as a 6 night P&O cruise. https://www.carnival.com/itinerary/6-day-the-bahamas-cruise/charleston/sunshine/6-days/ba4?abCode=¤cy=USD&hideSailingEvents=true&itinportcode=chs&locality=1&military=N&numGuests=2&offerCode=&pastGuest=N&promoCode=&rateCode=&roomType=IS&sailDate=02252024&senior=N&smp=Y Or am I missing something again? I would say that is 7days as you are on board for 7 days but 6 nights so one should receive shareholders benefit for 7 days if counting days . or Shareholders benefit for 6 nights. If counting nights. It does make a difference Edited July 21, 2021 by LifeonMars

From my experience 6 nights has always been the same as 7 days, and at present the Carnival shareholder benefit is on days, so 6 nights would qualify for the 7-13 days benefit, and 13 nights would qualify for the 14 days or longer, and anything les than 6 nights will qualify for the 6 days or less benefit, which has always been the case. I agree with you above, however my 6 nights (7days) on P&O although refused, as booked through the BLC card scheme has been shown as £30 declined. 7days according to Carnival shareholder obc should be £60 but not according to P&O ? Although the BLC discount is appreciated, and is open to all Blue Light employees and ex, as is the Military Discount scheme, run by same company. It appears that the shareholders in the UK are being disadvantaged. I can understand if the offers were only to shareholders, but they are not.
