Hi, Been trying for days to get thru on phone, terrible wait times. Does any body know how to access the "Heroes Deals" online? I can't seem to find them. Are they really any bargain or just hype?  thanks

Just about anything you'd want to know about "Healthcare Heroes" (not hero deals, a google of that would take you no where) can be found here.  Read the entire page, all the way down:

https://www.msccruisesusa.com/cruise-deals/healthcare-heroes

Maybe i'm missing something but that page does not show the particular deals available. Just tells you what the program is.

"must call to book"

You have to call them in the uk - it was definitely worth it for me got 20% off plus the 5% loyalty discount (we’ve not saved anything though as we’re now going in the Yacht Club 🤦‍♀️) but if you can show self restraint you could get a great deal.

Their phone service here in states is terrible, i'll just have to bear down and hold on. Thanks

I got 30% off my recent sailing on the Virtuosa plus the 5% loyalty discount so it is worth it to persevere with the horrendous call wait times.

My hold times with them haven't been that bad. Most of the time it's been between 5-10 minutes, often less than that. I did have to wait about 20 minutes twice recently, but since I work from home I just keep working while I listen to the hold music. I think it would be nice if they hired more staff, but equally, it would be nice if people who aren't cruising until 2022-2024 could hold off and let people like you and me with sooner departures get through.

I always try and encourage people to use a TA. We have our travel agent do the legwork for us 99% of the time. I only call MSC for things I don't want to hassle our TA with, such as whether they'll allow US residents on their European itineraries. Everything booking related goes through him.

OP here, I finally got thru and the rep seemed to be knowledgeable.  He told me that the cruises avail are many and just a matter of how booked the ship is, and discounts can range from 20-50%. I booked B2B one cruise at 50% off and another at 35% off. Seems like I got good deals.

thanks

I was told it is based on availability.  It is kinda like frequent flier miles so it depends on space.  They might sell 5 cabins at 50% off, then the next 5 at 40%, then 30% and then 20%.  It is all based on how many of those healthcare slots have been used up.  Some sailings are 0% as their allotment for that space is all used up.

The crappy thing is there is no way for someone to search by discount.  You can't call in and have them tell you which ones are at 50%, 40% ect.   You have to call about a specific booking and then they tell you what is available.

The second craptacular issue is it isn't guaranteed.  You make the booking, then send in your info.  You might book at 50%, but that 50% slot goes to a qualifying person.  If there is only one slot and they book 2 people for it, the person that sends in the right documentation and get approved first will get that 50%.  The second person will get whatever the next level discount is.  They will not hold that specific discount for someone just in case they don't qualify.

Good for you.  I was able to get mine from $1,488 down to $1,050.  I was able to use a hotel status match plus my healthcare discount.

What sailing were you able to get the 50% off?  I want to book another sailing and I'm curious to see where I should start looking.

I had a conversation with my knowledgeable MSC specialist TA, who advised none of that is true certainly not for UK bookings! 😉

We booked with a 5% + 15% discount before I found out about the Healthcare discount. Being a nurse I then called and was given the email for existing reservations to email. I then sent in the required documentation and they applied the 20% healthcare discount, removed the 15% previous discount and we ended up owing $400.00 more than our original balance - they charged the current price as opposed to the day of the booking!  Long story short, it took 6 emails and 9 phone calls over 3 months to get it straightened out 2 days ago! Just be aware and print all your confirmations. Sending them a copy of my original confirmation was how I was able to finally get the mess cleaned up. Of course, I lost the extra 5%, butI would never have applied for it if I knew the hassle it would cause!

That's how I got my discount.

I bought during the Christmas sale and got the 5+15.  They applied my healthcare on top of that

Good for you! They told me the 15% and 20% were not combinable! Enjoy!
