August 16th cruise with 2 yr old..what to do about covid?

So whats the latest?  mom and dad fully vacinated, on magic on Aug 16.  Applied for exemption.  unsure when we will hear.  Booked cruise without knowing about any of this, booked air and hotel as well.  So we are paid, booked, and now learning something about a 5% exemption.  Thinking since air is booked we go and if we can not get on ship we just spend a few days at the beach and go later on another ship.  Where can we go to find latest on our status?  TIA

If you are booked for August 16 you should have heard by now. Have you contacted whomever you booked with?

Sorry to hear this. Either you got the exception or you can cancel or move the cruise. If you have a unvaccinated child I'd take the refund and run.

Not true. We are booked for August 7 and still haven't heard. It's becoming a game of chicken now.

Latest announcement says unvaccinated need tested precruise/pre-embarkation and before end of cruise with $150 cost for testing; travel insurance required for unvaccinated; and no kids club for unvaccinated.

You can wait to see if you get the exemption or have the option of cancelling with full refund. With the previously mentioned bubble excursions and no kids club, I'd cancel and seek a full refund, making sure it is a full refund, including any non-refundable deposits or whatever. Carnival has been pretty accommodating during the shutdown and restart.
