Galveston Port Royal Caribbean Terminal and Facial Recognition

According to returning cruiser Galveston

If you have a passport, customs takes about 3 seconds.The port has facial recognition!

The terminal 1 (carnivals') has it too.

Just used the facial recognition and it was GREAT!!  From cabin to terminal though customs, and walked to pick up car all in under 20 minutes!  No interaction with CBP at all, although I am sure they do random checks.

As I understand , the dark area on east side in red configuration of  "Area of new terminal "  is still vehicular  storage, and not part of present new Royal terminal # 3 location !

It looks like there will be no "really close" parking. Or is there something in the plans for that?

Parking is right out the front door a few feet from the terminal .
