FWIW, we were on the Horizon 7/18 sailing ( 1st ship to visit Bimini. ) We got off the ship(which is already docked in Resorts World) hopped on the tram to stop #3 which is Beach 360. No admission charge. We didn't inquire about chairs and umbrella but they were available to rent. This spot is the exact place that they are selling as an excursion for $64 per couple which nets you an umbrella 2 chairs and a watered down Bahama Mama.. We were more than happy to put out a towel on the sand to sit on, but spent the better part of 4 hrs in the water anyway. Some folks we knew from the ship paid for their spots and left early and gave us their chairs and we still didnt even use them.

There is a restaurant right there along with bathroom. The food was costly. We got some wings and quesadillas with 2 cokes for like $50+ with tip. The water was phenomenal and the sand was soft and pure white. (better than Destin and if you've been there, you know what its like there.

My vote, go check it out and make it a beach day. The tram was right there when we were ready to head back, as it swings around roughly every 20 minutes.

And now I want to stick with 360 Beach!  😉 Thx for the review!

@BlerkOne sounds like their experience was better.  The review on the Carnival site did say if they had got out in the morning, they would not have had the crazy currants.

I'm still up in the air about Bimini especially with the negative review of 360 Beach.  I will go off the ship but not sure what we will do.  Golf cart could be fun...

The water was choppy, but I’m not a great swimmer, I just inflated my life vest and was able to swim right around with the sharks. Keep in mind it is open water snorkeling, you are not near a beach, you are actually near natural rocks and reefs. That does naturally make it a but more difficult, but very manageable. The boat also has glass bottoms for you to view the sharks without getting into the water. Overall, it was an enjoyable excursion once we got moving and organized.

Carnival Magic just left Bimini a few hours ago.  As far as I could tell, everything was open.  Please read my trip report at:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2785688-carnival-magic-august-7-2021

The report from Bimini is at the end of page 3, and includes 36 pictures and current information.

Thank you! that was some great information!

I am booked on Horizon starting sunday 15th, and I've read different things about Bimini. Some say it isn't worth it, some say everything is closed anyway. Has anyone actually been there on a recent cruise and have an opinion? I was considering getting off the boat with my family and renting a golf cart for the day to explore the island. Is it worth it? Or should I just hang out on the boat and consider it another day of relaxation? THanks

Is Cheers worth it? Is the Steakhouse worth it? Is the Che's table worth it?  Another should I question that nobody can answer for you.

I disagree, I got some great feedback from people who had recently experienced it. Clearly I wasn't asking anyone to MAKE my decision for me, I was only looking for some insight from those who had experienced so that I could make my OWN informed decision. As to the other questions, I've already answered them for myself....through research, asking others, etc to reach an informed decision. But, thanks so much for your supremely helpful feedback on the topic. Update: Based on the ridiculously ugly tone of your response I just went and read some of your posts on other boards....wow....do you just run through these to find ways to add some snark and nastiness towards others? Honestly, get another hobby....if you have nothing better to do on these boards than sarcastically mock others, then your lack of ability to be helpful to other humans makes me sad for you. What goes around does eventually come around.

We were on the Horizon 8/1. We debating getting off the ship in Bimini but decided that morning to do so. Went to customer service desk and grabbed the $39.00 excursion tickets to Resort World. Took the Tram got dropped off one stop further than the entrance we were supposed to go in and cut across the sand. Yes, we were stopped for no wrist bands but security pointed us in the right direction and we got our bands. The beach was nice and the water was great. Drinks are over priced like the small food selection but it's vacation so who cares. My girls enjoyed the hammocks near the pool which we also had access to. They did see a stingray which was cool, but no jellyfish as someone mentioned. Would we ever get off there again? Not sure. Have a nice cruise.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I haven't quite decided yet, but I love hearing about how others' experiences have been. I have teenagers, so its great to know your children found a way to enjoy it as well.

We when there in 2016 while on the Bahamas Paradise ship. It was a fun place but at that time many cruisers might have been disappointment at lack of planned activities. I understand it have been built up in recent years with a dock and other structures.

I absolutely adored Bimini when we stopped on our cruise on the Magic last week -- so much so that we're planning to go back for a long weekend next month via ferry to stay at Resorts World. BUT keep in mind, we are lazy beach people so it fit the bill.

I did two excursions during our port day in Bimini -- the Sapona Shipwreck Snorkel (at 8:30 a.m.) and then Sunny Day at Beach 360 for the rest of the day.

Sapona Shipwreck Snorkel

Personally, I enjoyed the Shipwreck snorkel but I am an avid snorkeler (also PADI certified, but opted not to dive by myself this trip) and a very strong open-water swimmer. I wish the tour operator put warnings on the Shipwreck excursion that strong swimming skills are encouraged -- it really is out in the middle of the ocean, not in a protected cove like many ship-sold snorkel excursions. Lots of people took advantage of the OBC they had on the sailing to purchase this excursion and were frustrated, scared and disappointed with how wavy and rocky the waters were for the snorkel.

This also created quite a dangerous situation as there was only one ladder back onto the catamaran from the water, and when people panicked to get back on the ship it became VERY crowded and with the rocky waves, very dangerous. There were a couple times that a big wave would roll through and I would feel a panicked snorkeler grab my leg and pull to keep them for moving in a direction they didn't want to go ... again, I'm a strong open-water swimmer (thanks, triathlon training!) but after a while it became REALLY annoying and detrimental to my experience.

The shipwreck was eerie and amazing (I'll have videos from my GoPro on my YouTube channel later this week). I saw stingrays, a large turtle, amazing schools of tropical fish (I don't know their real names, but in "Animal Crossing" they're surgeonfish and barred knifejaws 🤣 ), various coral and ... jellyfish. I know lots of reviews will complain about the jellyfish, but they didn't bother me. AGAIN -- we're out in the middle of the ocean, not a protected snorkel area like most entry-level excursions ... we're on the oceanlife's turf, so gotta go with the flow. However, my husband did claim he was stung in the face -- though he had no welt or rash like a normal sting, so I think he just panicked -- so take that as you will.

It's a good 30-45 minute "drive" from the port out to the shipwreck and then back, so your snorkel time is about 45-60 minutes MAX. I know people were disappointed on the way back that there wasn't more than a watered down rum punch and bottles of water -- again, this isn't one of THOSE snorkel excursions with booze flowing and casual snorkel fun-times ... it's pretty intense. They do provide snorkel gear, but I brought my own. You are required to wear a bright "life jacket" but it's mostly for spotting purposes and doesn't provide any real flotation assistance. You inflate it via a mouth tube and I opted to leave mine flat because I wanted to dive down to explore. So YMMV.

So, if you're looking for a casual snorkel excursion like in Cozumel or Roatan, save your $100++ per person on this one. You'll miss out on the cool sights, but you'll be happier with something else.

Sunny Day at Beach 360

This was the original excursion we booked, but decided to add the snorkel excursion once we got on-board (we opted not to get off the ship in Nassau, so we had money to burn). It was $64.99 per couple and included two beach chairs, an umbrella, a welcome drink and access to everything that Beach 360 had to offer (chair-side service for drinks and food, the pool, bathrooms, the DJ, etc.).

The night before we arrived in Bimini, we received one wristband in our stateroom mailbox ... kinda curious, but not a big deal since the excursion also just had one ticket (it was for two). We walked back from the Blue Bahama pier to the ship to catch the tram and they gave us a second wristband, our poker chips for free drinks AND we got into a VIP line that skipped the waiting masses to get on the tram to go to the beach -- score! This was around 11:45 (we actually stopped in Fisherman's Village to see if we could get a drink at the very loud "dive" bar that appeared to be open, but wasn't staffed quite yet).

The tram was cool, though there was a little confusion about what Beach 360 was versus the Beach Club ... Beach 360 is the same tram exit as the public beach, so you'll exit in a big powder parking lot. For the free beach, you walk down the rocks and its first come, first serve for loungers and umbrellas. For Beach 360, you enter through the bar -- they give you a drink, show you the lay of the land and then you're on your own to find a pair of loungers with an umbrella in a roped-off area. Even at almost four hours after the "start" of this excursion, we had no issue finding a pair of loungers with an umbrella in the perfect spot for us -- two rows from the stairs to the bar and bathrooms, and four-ish rows of chairs from the water. Our server was absolutely FANTASTIC -- I never went without a drink (most were resort priced, so $8ish for a beer, $12ish for a cocktail but hey, it's vacation). My husband had a burger and enjoyed it. When they ran out of one kind of beer, they brought us three of another kind for free. When the food took a while, he brought a second round of margaritas "on the house". I hardly ever got out of the water because our server Marcus would bring my drink to the shoreline or my husband would bring the next round out to me. The water was blue and clear, the sand was white and soft and I honestly felt like I was in heaven. Our total bill was around $84 for the fourish hours we spent there and we tipped another $50 -- I wish we'd saved our cash for excursions like this instead of the casino because I felt bad paying with a card, so just FYI (also, we learned you can charge machine money in the casino to your room this cruise ... time will tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but #YeauxLeaux).

We were on the last tram back to the ship at around 4 p.m. and it made me VERY sad to leave.

So, that's my take on Bimini!!

Same. Have obc to burn so hoping I can book on board

It "sold out" for our sailing, but our tablemates had luck once on board getting refunded what they paid pre-sailing and having OBC applied to cover it. Again, YMMV, but if it looks like it might sell out that's always an option.

I would definitely recommend it -- it is slightly pricey, but knowing that I'd have an umbrella and chairs when I showed up was worth it for me. And cutting the line for the tram once everyone got off the ship was an extra bonus ... because that line was LONG.

Thank you for the great review!  One question, is this part of the complimentary tram route?  I read on another post that there is a tram that makes 5 stops, this looks to be one of them that runs continuously.  This would be great to allow you to go back to the ship anytime you would like.

Thanks again, glad you had such a great time!

I always get off the ship.  If I paid port fees, then I paid for the stop, so I get off the ship!  Even if it is only a couple of hours, get off the ship to see the place for yourself, through your own eyes and thoughts.  Have fun and safe travels to all.

It is! So you can come and go as you please! Towards the end of the day, we noticed trams started sticking around/piling up at Beach 360 and the Beach Club next door to make sure they were available when groups were ready to head back to the ship.

It was incredibly convenient and I never felt rushed to get there or leave whenever I was ready.

@keels81 Trying to figure this out... did you get off the ship, walk down the long pier and get on the VIP line? Did you show your one band to a Carnival person (with a sign?) get your second wristband and bypass the masses?  Thanks for any elaborations 😄

I did a snorkel excursion that left from the long end of the pier, so we walked back from there back to the ship to get in line.

If you're not doing an excursion before Sunny Day, you'll just walk off the ship and go to the little yellow/white hut and they'll check your ticket (and give you a second wristband, if you need one!), give you your poker chips for drinks and put you in the express line for the tram to Beach 360.
