November / December Sailings (or not?)

I've seen several sailings which are now questionable for November and December, we're (hopefully) on one of those - Sensation out of Mobile in November. In our case I noticed a bit over a week ago that all Sensation sailings for November were grayed out on the Carnival website.  Now I see that both November and December are grayed out..... now I'm really not feeling good about this.

SO..... as soon as anyone hears any solid news for all the November and December sailings could they please share?  Earlier this week John Heald said on facebook that 'we'd hear something by the end of this week'.  Well, the end of the week is here and still no news.

AND a second question.  We've made a deposit but not a final payment on our November cruise on Sensation.  We have another cruise picked out if the Sensation is a no-go - would it be prudent to go ahead and book that now to ensure we get cabins to our liking, and would we eventually get the Sensation deposit back if we did this?

As far as booking another cruise now to ensure you get the cabin you want, is it something special or that unusual. Just saying prices are not going up, cancellations are going up. Once protocols for nov and dec are announced you are going to see a lot more free cabins to book, and probably better deals.

I dont see any reason to rush until you see covid under control.

Exact same situation for Carnival Liberty (out of Port Canaveral).

The November sailings disappeared last week, and then earlier this morning the December ones went Poof as well.

If you use the 'cancellation tool' it will still show as Not Cancelled.  I spoke with my wonderful PVP this morning, and he'd not yet heard any rumors (but they only get a few minutes warning when they do eventually become official).

I'm preparing for the Liberty plans, like so many more before it, to become yet another Whomp Whomp ☹️

.

It's pretty obvious our cruises will be cancelled.  It would just be really really nice if Carnival could  come out and admit it so that we can all move on with making other plans.

You have the option to contact Carnival and transfer your deposit to whichever other ship you wish to sail on as a substitution.   If it's any other ship besides the Mardi Gras, I would wait for eventual price drops.  If you wish to sail on the Mardi Gras, there aren't too many bargains right now, unless you are a gambler and get casino rates.  I just flipped a 6 day Horizon next week to a 7 day Mardi Gras in October and paid an extra 200 pp for the privilege. Worth every penny.

I always figure 100 a day is good solo, but 200 pp isnt bad for the longer cruise on mardi gras.

You were wishing you got locked in those cheers offers a while back. They were great .. were being the operative word. Both of those cruises the price continues to drop.  I'm not much of a drinker, and the base price continues to drop down down down. John heald backed out. Says uk wouldnt let him travel. Where the break even price for me is idk but when its dropping 100 to 300, it's not such a good deal. I'm at about 200 extra now and dropping on vista. Some 7 and 8 day dates are now over 300 less than I paid.

Breeze is only 5 days, didnt know it was my last chance to book cheers when we booked the cheers rate. It's down a lot and more last  night. Booked cheers rate so it doesnt qualify for price matching after final payment. And remember cheers isnt even good first day out if Galveston.

I think it was a brilliant move on carnivals part to include cheers so people cant get price drops as their prices go down lower and lower. Vista was no bargain when I booked it and now locked in. Smart move on carnivals part looking back. I'm paying same as pre covid prices. As I said there are 8 day cruises almost 300 less. Certainly not what I'd call a good price. All my rcl cruises thru next march are all 100 to 300 more and better cabins. The one only 100 less than vista is a corner aft balcony.

Prices seem still to be dropping and the bottom hasnt been found. From what I see of sept and oct prices dropping, when protocols come out for nov and dec .. more price drops in their future too.

Both of mine with cheers dropped last night more .. cheers no longer a bargain but looking forward to it. But wouldnt have paid what I'm paying now due to price dropping. Brilliant move by carnival to lock in higher prices.

What SEEMS to be happening is the newest, largest ships from the busiest ports are most likely to get underway first. So if I were you I might be looking a few miles over to New Orleans for your timeframe with slightly larger ships. I think there is a better chance and I am guessing Sensation from Mobile will in fact be one of the last ones they get running.

This is based just on what they have been doing so far, getting Dream class, Vista class, Excel class and Sunshine class going first - the newest ships from the largest ports. This patterns suggests the 4 Fantasy class ships will be among the last to sail.

Still as per your original point, none of us knows for sure. Even once Carnival announces the plans they can still change.

If you're looking to hear what you want to hear, you might as well save yourself the trouble and not book.

If you're willing to be flexible and go along with whatever ride we go on, book it. No one knows what even next months will look like.

All I want to hear is the truth.  In the very near future we have to start making decisions about travel arrangements, hotels, etc. etc.

What's super annoying is when John Heald says "we'll be making an announcement by the end of the week" and then.......... nothing.

I agree. Just wish he would say nothing at all.

Just checked on October sailing out of New Orleans on the Glory. No longer shows. Only shows sailings out of New Orleans starting in December on the Valor. I used my phone so don't know if would impact anything.

We had to cancel this cruise last Saturday so will not impact us but was wondering.
