Pier taxi: Round trip taxi fare to Christiansted?

Sign says round trip to Christiansted $35.

i'm afraid i pay in full now, what incentive do they have to pick me up at Christiansted to come back to the port?

 

or Do i pay 1/2 now and 1/2 when i come back?

 

basically, How does the round trip fare to Christiansted work with the pier taxis?

The shuttles go back and forth all day, you just grab one in C'sted when you are ready to come back. 

 

This is not a third world country. 

You will not be left somewhere remote to fend for yourself.

We were just in Fredrickstad yesterday, Not easy to find a taxi unless you have 6-8 people. Finally others standing around us were asking the same. We ended up with 8 and the cost was $25 pp round trip to Christiansted. Our driver waited and we spent about an hour there. 

 

Very disappointed in this St Croix port stop...we'll hopefully avoid this one in the future. Really nothing to do in either place....unless you're looking for a beach day....we weren't.

Funny we ended up doing the same thing for $25 each rdtrip. We will be here again next Dec. and will just relax or go to a nearby beach
