Price drop on cruise with RU2 promotion

I booked a cruise months ago on the RU2 promotion. The cruise says "says if I make any changes to the cruise I will lose the free cheer package rate" When I looked at a comparable room, I see the room is $288 cheaper (only DOU in the casino). My question is has anyone been able to get the price difference on a similar cruise, and NOT lose the free cheers package?

We had the same situation. And were told we could not get OBC and keep the RU2. In our case, it was around 600 cheaper, so we switched to the casino rate with DOU in casino ( just for hubby) and lost the cheers. I think for us it was worth it since the 600 will go a long way to buy extra drinks

We booked with a RU1 rate and also found a price drop but we were past final payment.  We called our PVP and he said only those booked Early Saver could get a price drop but he would check with his supervisor.

About 15min after I got off the phone with him I got an email with a new invoice showing I now had a $149 OBC.….AND I kept my drink package!!

I was very happy!!

Using a PVP, I have dropped my January 2022 4 day cruise, booked with RU2 and $300 OBC from cancellations, a total of $140 via 6 price changes.  There is a 7th one pending.  I have been able to keep the RU2 and $300 OBC with each change.  The savings, so far, has come off the total dollars that I owe.

Do you still have the RU2 code offer still showing in Today's Deals? I have been able to get price drops with RU2 when it has been apples to apples comparison.

Im curious too...we no longer have the RU2 showing as an offer and were told we cant keep cheers if we use a different code. We were also past final payment

Be thankful that you even got the RU2 code and were able to take advantage of it.  If you want a price drop, then you should lose the code, it's that simple.  And you're correct if you think I have a chip on my shoulder about the RU 1-2-3 codes.  They were given out to those that never buy Cheers as an incentive.  And more than likely 90+% that use the code will never again buy Cheers at full price.

I have an RU2 offer good on select cruises through Dec. 2022, must book by Nov. 1. Can't use it as only allow 2 in cabin and DS makes 3.

But that made sense for Carnival from a business perspective, no? They don't want to give Cheers to people that will drink a lot and cost them money. And they also don't want to lose the money they would get from people that would buy Cheers anyway.

It doesn't cost them much to give Cheers to light drinkers.

We have purchased Cheers in the past and still had the RU2 offers

Where did it say I wasn't thankful? When we called I was fully aware that it was most likely we would lose cheers. Its just I keep reading that people have called and were able to get OBC plus keep their cheers. My assumption was that they still had the offer.

I have a cruise booked under RU2 and noticed a price drop today.  The booking was done under my husband's Cheers offer and he does still have the offer available on his account.  I called Carnival but the agent said that since we have the Free Cheers offer, that means we forfeit the option of getting price drops.  I don't have a PVP so maybe a PVP would've made a difference in this case, but I wasn't able to get the price drop by calling Carnival directly.

That is sad.  As stated in this thread, I've been able to drop our amount due for our January cruise $160.  I think it has been 6 different price drops applied via our PVP.

Yeah, it would've been nice to have that $140 back, but it's okay.  I still get to enjoy my free Cheers. 🙂

Are you doing a mock booking using the RU2 code under your husbands account? If it is lower on the same cabin type and category you should get that price.

Yes, I did.  I no longer have the RU2 code on my account so I used his account to both book the original cruise and check for the price drop.  The new price was for the same cabin category with the RU2 offer, but the agent said we were ineligible for the price drop because it was under the Cheers promotion.  I'm sure a PVP would've let us do it, based on the responses in this thread.  But since I wasn't speaking to a PVP, I didn't want to push back so I just let it go.

Sorry they didn't help. I still have the RU2 code and I have been able 2 get 2 price drops with my PVP.

We have the RU1 deal for our B2B this December and have gotten a reduction twice for a total of $505.00. The second time I asked for a reduction and did not realize it was now an RU2 offer. Carnival granted the reduction for us. $505.00 more OBC to spend.
