Im Booked under the ru1 code what is the difference? I know we get the cheers but is there anything else? I see people mentioning other ru and a number

You got the best code.  RU2 RU3 were other valuable codes.   RU9 was a joke and worthless.

Update : My PVP worked all day. With his direct supervisor and the escalation department. NO dice ! They will not give us the discounted rate even giving up Cheers !

The Ohio rate was not a guaranteed cabin. It let me pick my cabin. The rooms available are doors from my balcony cabin.

Honestly, I’m sick over this but we will go on our cruise. You can bet I will use and abuse the heck out of the Cheers package !

My vista rate dropped about $400.

I'm booked at what I thought was a good rate for 1st leg breeze with cheers. Today its dropped to $124. Cheers rate allows for no price drops, just out of luck. If it was a different date I'd book it. It's the lowest rate I've seen for out of Galveston and I'm booked that date.

I got cheers on vista and didnt have even one alcohol drink per day. Just not worth it for me when you cant get price drops. It would be the date I'm booked and cant get price drops. Not worth asking for a upgrade as I'm happy with my cabin. Carnival was smarter than we knew on this rate. Cost me about $500 in price drops. Maybe more, afraid to add it up. I saw a vista cruise for $199 leaving this sat. Trying to leave 14 days between. We will see, tempted to add another if I could get a better date. Too bad only one of me.

Having now hit our 15 two of three nights, I am confident they will never, ever see fit to offer us a 'real' cheers rate code.  We get RU9, where my $600 balcony cabin cost $2000.  No thanks!  I'd rather they keep giving me good base rates and I'll buy Cheers when we're in the mood for debauchery.   Especially knowing that the early saver 'change as desired' perk disappears once you add a Cheers code!

I don't blame you for being upset! As I said, they let us have OBC and lose cheers and we didn't do early saver. What happened to once early saver always early saver? Well ,have fun using and abusing that cheers package! Maybe you will forget all about it after a few cocktails

Thank you for seeing it our way and offering support !  It was definitely not explained when we added the Cheers code, that you were stuck. There have been many price drops recently,  as much as $400 plus $50. OBC but I didn’t call. When it hit $1000. I had to try.
I don’t hold it against my PVP, but I sure do against Carnival. 12 cruises all with Carnival with one leaving soon and another for next year …. I’m rethinking my loyalty sadly. It just really sucks because 3 out of 4 ports were changed …and not due to ports being closed. Just to make space for other ships. Not the cruise I paid big bucks for.

Post Covid, the Cheers deal if you are able to get it again will always be a better deal.  You are just having buyers remorse because you gave up the price drops.  The ONLY reason for these price drops is because of Covid.  Carnival wants to hit that 70% occupancy rate and the only way to do it is by giving the cruises away to the gamblers and having massive rate drops with the entire fleet except the Mardi Gras.

You said that the rate is now 124 and cost you about 500 in price drops.  If you were able to get a solo rate on your cruise for 624, you got a great deal, especially since you got Cheers included. Crying about it isn't going to change anything.  You could though try to squeeze in a cheap cruise to plug a hole and make yourself feel better. 😉

Since I was never the recipient of a RU 1-2-3 code,  my loyalty to Carnival via 20/35 cruises was toast.  If it wasn't for the game changer that the Excel Class has become, Carnival would be in my rear view mirror.  There are too many competitors with too many state of the art ships to keep all of your eggs in one basket.  There are many who are loyal to one cruiseline and they keep their blinders on and view cruising through their rose colored glasses, but those glasses and blinders were thrown away by me years ago.

On the Mardi Gras comment, there are some one-time-use rate codes valid on last minute MG sailings.  We and some friends booked three balcony cabins for $600 all in - only one of us on a casino rate.  She got the free drinks in the casino, but the same rate as the rest of us.  She's the only one still being offered great rates on MG, and since she isn't gambling this cruise, we don't have great hope that the great rates will remain on her account.

Anyway, if you're interested in the latest and greatest, there have been at least some sailings included on the particularly good rate codes.  Worth keeping an eye out, we're very impressed!  She really shines at 60% capacity, haha.

I'm not crying, I'm stating facts. I know you always feel like you know what I'm thinking.

I wanted to try cheers, and got the chance to try it. I enjoyed coffee in the mornings. I thought if I had the chance to order drinks maybe I would but the urge didnt hit me on vista. I told myself no reason to order drinks if I didnt feel like it.

I had early saver on vista and I could have price matched for about $300ish. Once early saver always early saver. You are wrong about why I didnt. I've put my travel agent thru so much during covid that I decided to let things be. If the underlying rate is early saver i could have gotten it. I know the rules.

I gave up 3 small price drops on rcl too for a similar reason. They are lift and shifts and all kinds of hassle and the amount wasnt worth it. I think hes about done being a travel agent. He used to post on rcl all the time and got a 2nd job now. He is meticulous and I dont want to lose him. He dislikes carnival to start with. I let it go. .. doesnt mean I'm unaware of it.

I'm trying to not bother him unless its important. Final payments on my jan feb b2b might be coming up, jan 30 days feb not extended. ..stuff he has to do and pay with fccs hes tracking. Better him than me.

I had two RU2 cruises booked... one for Feb 2022 and one for Sept 2022. I was able to reprice those two cruises to Military Early Saver rate... saving $695 total. First thing the PVP verified was that I was not past final payment date for those cruises. 'The idea of Cheers was nice, but no way it was worth that much $$ to me.

Last minute on anything is not going to do me any good.  I'll be on the MG on a B2B in February as well as over Labor day.  Besides those 4, I have another 11 currently booked all over a 15 month period from Jan 22 - March 23. And since you brought up latest and greatest, five of those 15 booked are on MG and Celebration and also B2B on Apex and Discovery Princess and 3 booked on NCL Prima, so I think I have latest and greatest covered in spades

All I was responding to was the bit about there being massive price drops on the whole fleet except the Mardi Gras.  I've seen that sentiment in multiple threads recently, and this seemed as good a thread as any to post that there have indeed been some drastically dropped fares on the MG.  They do require some last minute flexibility an exciting upcoming calendar like yours doesn't allow for - but there might be others in my boat (ha!) who can occasionally jump on a particularly good last minute deal.  No way would we have been able to justify last minute hassles for full price, but $600 for two was good enough for us to figure out which week we could fit into our schedule.  I look forward to seeing all your upcoming comparison thoughts!!
