Cruising on the Horizon fairly soon - need to understand "on your own" off the ship

Hello all and looking for your help.

We cruised on the Horizon July 24th and on the Disney Fantasy Sept 4th cruise.

With both, we selected the ship's excursions.

We'd like to check with you that cruised this 3rdQ this year as what to expect if we wanted to take a cab to the beach in Aruba and Curacao on our own.

We plan the Carnival Cruise line pool in Amber Cover and likely staying on ship for La Romana.

In the past, pre Covid, we all knew the way to do this stuff - just as we wanted.

Please no opinion's, just facts, maybe we missed something as we continue to age - LMAO.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and please enjoy your future cruises as well.  Covid and protocols has been something none of us ever expected to live through - but there appears to be alight at the end of the tunnel.  The rules continue to change and want to be sure we are straight on.

 Thank you all!

As long as it’s just the adults, no kids under 12. We were on the 9/18 Horizon and rented an SUV on Aruba and drove the island, stopping where we chose to. In Curaçao, we just walked into town. Stopped by Rif Fort and crossed the floating bridge. No masks necessary outside, but needed in shops. Had a great time.

We took a taxi to Paradise Beach in Cozumel last week (2 vaxxed adults). No restrictions. We were required to wear masks until we were on the beach itself.

We also took a Carnival excursion in Belize.

There were really no restrictions on vaccinated passengers in the ports other than masks, which were required unless eating, drinking, or at the pool/beach.

Okay, that's what we wanted to know, so we can grab a cab and go to a beach in Aruba and Curacao.

Not worry about mask rules as they are what they are and in our our country as well, besides, we wear them too!  Thank you!

I would not bet a single dollar that whatever restrictions applied in 3q2021 will still be identical in 3q2022.  I'm confident you'll be fine, but I wouldn't worry too much about specifics this far out.

We just did the cruise on the Horizon 9/18 and were able to do what we wanted in Aruba and Curacao.  They only require masks inside of businesses.  In Dominican Republic, you are expected to wear a mask all the time you are off the ship.  The pool area was beautiful in Amber Cove and of course you didn't have to wear a mask in the water.  We had a great time, never felt unsafe walking around but it is recommended that in DR, you do a tour through the Cruiseline only for safety reasons.  If you are in the casino, make sure and say HI to Monica the Casino Host and Donkey (Chris Salazar) the CD is great!
