Yes. We took an Uber and you drop off your luggage before going in to test.

Masks through the whole embarkation process. 
 

Once you’re on the gangway, no masks required. 
 

The testing process for Bliss’s return was way smoother than for Encore. NCL and Eurofins are in the groove now! You’ll test at Berth 93. When you’re properly tagged as “all clear” you can walk to 92 (or are we at 91?) or take the shuttle over. Embarkation process is the same as always.

Woohoo, onboard! Getting my hair cut in 30 min

People seem interested in what I wear/pack. Here’s outfit number 1! This trendy floral jacket bought on Amazon is my travel jacket, it’s made of a poly blend material and goes well with a variety of colors of my very expensive old navy tank tops. White sandals are rocket dog, a nod to 2006 Aubrey. Shiny forehead and frizzy hair is also a staple of my cruise style 

 

my glasses always look crooked because I have weird ears, so there is that fashion statement

That bridge is a happy sight - I used to drive over it every day for work for 10+ years & before that I worked in San Pedro forever (the hubs is a S.P. native!).  Love your outfit & you look beautiful!  I have crooked shades due to wonky ears & a usually-shiny forehead, too LOL.  Can't wait to see how your hair turns out!

Ok, so I know this live review is a little bit early, but I leave tomorrow for LA and I am excited, OK?!?! 😄 

 

•    I will be live reviewing my experience on the Bliss. This will be my second time on the Bliss, the first time being in 2019 on a sailing to Alaska.  I will be sailing with my friend this time, instead of my husband (poor husband is staying home with two doggos, he’s a keeper for sure) 

 

•    Pre-cruise hotel is Hyatt Regency LAX. We arrive into LAX around 1:30-2pm local time on Saturday. We are taking the hotel’s included shuttle back to the airport on Sunday to get our NCL transfer to San Pedro Cruise Terminal.

 

•    Cabin type is a BF balcony on Deck 9 again, regular not angled. I was on deck 9 on Encore in Sept 2021 to Alaska, with an angled balcony, booked this cruise BEFORE the Encore, BEFORE my experience with the lady on the Waterfront overhang.  I was hoping pricing would come down so I could bump up to another deck, but that was not the case, but hopefully I do not have the same thing happen twice.  If you are wondering what I am referring to, here is a link to my last review (skim to the end recap to read about the lady on the Waterfront) 

 

 

•    This is the first sailing on the Bliss since the restart, so I expect there might be some hiccups, but I am a pretty relaxed, easy going person. I promise there won’t be any moaning unless the situation is pretty severe. 

 

•    I have the premium unlimited streaming internet, so I will be reviewing that pretty extensively. I bought it SPECIFICALLY to test out with my husband to see if he could successfully work and take phone calls while on a cruise. My husband works remotely, so it would be a dream if we could cruise more by him doing some work on the ship. 

 

•    We opted for all the free at sea perks of course, AND this is my first time sailing as platinum (my friend is Bronze) so I am so excited for my two platinum dinners. I believe the restaurants we plan to go to are Cagney’s, La Cucina, Q, Le Bistro, and we will pay for Food Republic ala carte. Last time on the Encore, my husband and I did Food Republic ala carte and we got a massive amount of food for both of us for 30.00 including gratuity, so it seemed like a no brainer to do it ala carte vs using a dining plan meal for it.  This will be my friend’s first time doing specialty dining on a cruise ship so I am so excited to see what she thinks about it! I might go to American Diner for a few appetizers one day for lunch too, we shall see! 

 

•    I have never done a Mexican Riviera cruise before. Our excursions are as follows: Yelapa & Majahuitas through NCL in Puerto Vallarta, Stone Island Tour thru Mazatlán Tours in Mazatlán, and we are winging it in Cabo (probably just take the tender, walk around, see what strikes us. 

Let me know if you want to see some packing pics, finishing my packing and "Charging of all my devices" today. My power brick takes 10 hours to charge, my husband says "omg upgrade to USB-C already" LOL 
 

Also we got our "96 hr in advance" optional Covid antigen test yesterday, my friend and I are both negative! 

We were on the Ncl Star 7-8 years ago. When at Cabo we took the Baja Jeep Safari thru NCL. Really had a good time driving a jeep around, thru part of the town into the desert then to a village for a snack. Then took off for the beach and back to the pier (parking lot). Had a good time. Worth the price. Looking forward to your review. Thank you for doing this. We are booked for a Miami to Seattle cruise in Apr 2022.

Hair cut situation dire, talked to manager and she’s going to fix it tomorrow. I swear to god I am not a Karen, my best friend drug my back to the salon and said you cannot have a mullet. Will give an update tomorrow

Wow sorry they screwed your hair up 😓😓. I’ve read more than a few reviews over the years of bad haircuts on the ships 

 

Definitely something I’d never chance

Sorry about your haircut.

Your bad haircut might have something to do with the new and possibly inexperienced crew.  I will be on the Bliss Dec 5th and when I booked the cruise I made sure the crew had at least a few cruises under their belts.

Ate at Q, honestly wasn't impressed, but maybe because I have really high expectations as a Texan. 

 

I am not sure why this photo is upside down because on my laptop it is right side up.

 

The hair cut after, he "Curled" it which i hate, but i just thought when I straightened it, all would be well

Didn't get a picture of the back of my head, but i pulled the back part to the side so you can see the stark difference in layers

 

 

and here is the picture i showed...so I actually was going for slightly shorter in the back and longer in the front. Aw well, it is hair, it grows back...I got a drink and life goes on. 

 

 

Going to get breakfast soon, then maybe a stop by the casino (which was brutal last night but today is a new day), then my 9am appointment to get my hair "Fixed". Meet and Mingle after that, then hopefully a day of drinking haha!

There are certain things I would never get done on a ship.  Hair is one of them and I thought women would be more particular than I am (I'm a middle aged mostly bald guy.)  Most of my female friends will only allow "their" stylist to touch them.  Plus, I was reading another thread where it's not inexpensive.

 

I'm probably not getting the acupuncture treatments either 🙂

We’ve tried Q a few times and thought some things were good and others just OK 

 

It’s one specialty restaurant I’ll be passing on in November 

 

Reserved Cagneys, Ocean Blue, Teppanyaki and La Cucina so far 

 

Might try Los Lobos too
