Ajaccio vs Palma de Mallorca

Trying to decide on a cruise. One cruise included Ajaccio and the other is Palma de Mallorca. Which cruise would you choose and why.

We enjoyed both,  what time of year and is everything else the same?

Sounds Iike a tossup,  but I’d lean to Palma.

I haven't been to Ajaccio itself [cruise was scheduled there in 2019 but diverted to Toulon], but I was recently on a cruise that spent two days in Corsica [Bonifacio, and Calvi / L'Ile Rousse] – and I have been to Palma twice. 

 

If you've never been to either of your options, I would pick Palma as there is much more to do.  You can spend a day in Palma itself [we did this the first time], or take the historic train to Soller, or rent a car and drive to Valldemossa, Deia and Soller [we did this the second time, see my blog here:

On the other hand, more cruises stop at Palma than at Ajaccio – so you may have other opportunities for Palma in the future...

From Palma we took the wooden train to the Port of Soler.

Palma without question. Lovely, very walkable city.

 

The train to Soller is a great trip across the mountain. And, once in the town,  you can change to the tram (they use old San Francisco ones) to get to the Port, which is a tourist resort. By the by, my brother in law originates from  the town, so I may be biased here
