When does HAL usually assign guarantees?

We have a family Oceanview guarantee for the November 10th cruise on the Rotterdam.  Haven't done a guarantee with Holland America before.  When do they usually assign the cabins?

Post Covid, who knows, its too soon to determine a trend. Pre-Covid, as discussed frequently here, it was anywhere from 3 weeks prior to sailing, to dockside. Suites can get assigned as far out as 30 days prior to sailing. Average was 8-10 days ahead of sailing.

Wouldn’t be surprised if you receive notice today? As stated 10-12 days prior to cruise seems to be norm.

Have a Suite guarantee for the Nov 16th Eurodam, no assignment yet.

You can often see the assignment on your luggage tag before it shows up anywhere else.

Years ago that was true but it is no longer true.  It shows everywhere at the same time.

Thanks. I thought it was the case when I last sailed HAL in 2020, but maybe not.

We got ours yesterday and then received an upgrade email offer. Any verandah available for $189 each. We found a V category on the "hump" and took it. Gave up our 2 bathrooms for the big balcony.  Funny, they offered it to us a few weeks ago for more money!
