Canadian Cruising 2022

Will be going from Quebec to NY in August. Anyone know  if we have to have Covid test,to fly into Canada?  We plan to go a few days early stay in Montreal, then take train to Quebec to board ship.  Will we need a Covid test to board in Quebec? Where would US citizen obtain a  Covid test prior to boarding or can I get tested at the Port . Tia

I'm not sure anyone knows what Canada's rules will be in August, but right now, you have to have a test before flying into Canada

Honestly, what is required today is likely going to be different from what is required next August.   Same for travel to anywhere else in the world right now.   

 

You would be better off waiting until next spring to see what of the winter requirements have been extended vs removed.   Also, cruises from Canada are currently banned, so there are no requirements in existence as there are no cruises.   Again, wait until next spring to see what is required.

As the PP stated, it's too early to know what the regulations  will be. CURRENTLY, you would need a PCR test taken within 3 days of your entry into Canada, and have proof of being fully vaccinated. 

 

CURRENTLY you need a COVID test taken within 2 days to board a cruise ship, so you would  need to get one in QC or Montreal. You can look online to find a testing center and book an appointment. I wouldn't count on a testing facility at the port. If only an antigen test is required (since your cruise will end in the US), then you could bring a proctored home test kit (like the Binax Now) with you.

We have a 3 day from Vancouver to Seattle as part of a B2B with a 16 day Hawaii cruise from Seattle.  Have no idea what the rules will be then and may be totally different come August.  The rules will probably depend on case numbers and vaccination rates

Note:  The current cruise ship information for Canada effective, yesterday, 1 November 2021, is cruise ships are no longer banned in Canadian waters.

There was a news report here in Canada that Health Canada was looking at the requirement to test prior to flying to Canada.  Concern was that the expense on families was excessive.  So perhaps it will change in the near future.

It is long past due for this ridiculous requirement to be deep-sixed.  It should have been announced coincident with the border open date of Nov 8 (for land crossings).  It say much when finally the medical experts and MSM are calling for it to be scrapped (along with many local politicians in border areas).

Right now you need a negative PCR test to fly into Canada. This could potentially be different by next year.
