There will be 2 in your room or maybe more if there are more people. We bring our own and yes they can be fabric. They just can't be gaiters.

i didn't see that in the rules re the gaiters. Do they enforce it?  I mean I see some interesting ways to wear regular masks as chin straps and under the nose.  Just cannot grasp the gaiter ban.

Venting here.  Of course if this is the rule I guess I will have to follow.  Just makes no sense.

It's a rubber bracelet from what I've seen of vloggers on RCCL ships the past couple months. You know like the "live strong" and "WWJD" rubber colored bracelets. Why would you take it off, just to forget to put it back on?

I prefer to sleep with nothing on my wrist. It will be on me to have to go back to the cabin to get the bracelet if I happen to forget it. No problem with that. I just want to know if this ID band is removable. Anyone?

Early on in the pandemic, it was reported that gaitors, even if double fabric, split droplets into aerosols. This is actually worse than not wearing a mask at all. Why that happens with gaitors is beyond me but that is what I saw on the news on TV.

Also.......very early on, we were warned NOT to wear masks with one way valves. Those masks allow all the exhaled breath to escape the mask. Wearing a mask with a one way valve does nothing to mitigate the virus. I would imagine Royal does not allow masks with one way valves. All medical facilities and MD offices in my community do not allow gaitors or masks with one way valves.

I get it.  But truthfully, my gaiter probably works better then a chin strap...😀  They don't allow them on planes or airport.  I used the gaiter at the gym when running on treadmill so I didn't pass out.  I just prefer it because its more comfortable and I see no difference between it and some of the masks Ive seen.  But I dont make the rules...

Oh my, I'm getting the impression that there are adults who are not vaccinated on Royal ships which leave from US ports. Is that correct?

Everyone over 12 must be vaccinated.

As far as your question about the wrist bans, I agree they are a pain however that is the rule of Royal and whether we all like it or not it is required.  I for one will be glad when these restrictions are over but until they are I fully understand when I book a cruise exactly what is expected of me.

I still don’t understand people who book a cruise knowing what rules are in place and then complain about the protocols.  If it’s something that upsets you then maybe sail with NCL or wait until some of these restrictions are lifted.

Recently did a cruise with RC where we are diamond, and one with NCL.

Wow! Does no mask wearing make a difference during a cruise. We will be back to RC when masks are lifted, but for now time to build up NCL points.

I mean come on. Virtually 95% vaccinated, all tested for Covid. Safer then any place on planet earth basically. So WHY the masks? Let people wear them if they choose to. Let me choose not to. 🙄

Do you recall if they had Love & Marriage and Quest on your cruise? And mask policy for them?

Is this "ribbon" bracelet removable for when spending time in the cabin (such as sleeping)?

Last month on Symphony the bracelet was cloth with a locking bead holding it on.  If you get the same kind just make sure you don’t pull it tight or you will have to cut it off like I did after the cruise.  My DW "helped me" and tightened mine.  Hers was loose enough to take off at night.  It did not bother me.  If it bothered me I would of gone to get a new one put on loose.

Yes there possibly could be some unvaccinated adults on the ship, thanks to the state of Florida or due to a medical exemption.

Most of the masks I’ve personally seen at least appear to be of surgical-quality or multi-layer cloth, but even poorly made masks can do more harm than good:

The CDC and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) studied the efficacy of various masks on the market and found that while a N95 mask (the U.S. equivalent of a KN95 mask) blocked 99 percent of small aerosol particles, a polyester neck gaiter blocked 47 percent as a single layer and 60 percent when folded into two layers.”

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.10.05.20207241v3.full.pdf

Some of the surgical masks I’ve purchased have tested at ASTM Level 3, are FDA listed, offer two-way protection, block 99.2% bacterial & particulate filtration down to 0.1 microns, and are made in America.

As I had posted earlier I’ve got an ample supply of surgical masks and N95’s LOL and these are just the ones at home - I also have a full pack in my car and one at work…

Are dual layered gaiters acceptable?

Mask Standards

Your mask should be at least two layers of tight weave fabric with loops that fit over your ears in accordance with health guidelines. The mask should fit your face closely and cover your nose and mouth but allow you to breathe easily. Note that neck gaiters, open chin bandanas and scarves, and face masks with valves do not meet health authority guidelines and will not be permitted.

if the person putting it on at the terminal does it too tight you cannot get it off easily nor would be able to get it back on

Now on our 8th Royal since June 12.  We have never worn the bracelet and no one has insisted since we let them know that the "rubber" of the bracelets cause blood bruises on our wrists.

So seniors who have a bruising problem may consider just carrying the bracelet somewhere else like on the woman's purse or man's belt

One mask for a 12 day cruise? I don’t mind wearing a mask, but I do like a fresh on on a regular basis. Will guest services give out more, do we need to bring our own? Are cloth masks OK?

You have to wear a mask to get on board, so you have at least two. Cloth masks are fine.

I have already explained why hubby and I are cruising on Royal (only 4 nights in an aft balcony for no price premium). We have a 7 night booked on NCL in December for a special occasion. We will be mask free everywhere on the ship and I’m REALLY looking forward to our NCL cruise.

We will have a great time on Royal and will be spending all our time in vaxxed only venues. That is the plan, anyway.

The State of Florida should have nothing to do with allowing un-vaxxed people on board. NCL sails 100% vaxxed out of Florida ports. I have no idea what is happening with the law suit they filed against the AG of Florida but it seems to me that NCL has prevailed so far.
