I had the OBC from my cancelled cruise on the booking that was approved for the shareholder OBC so that isn't it.  I do fully expect them to take it away once onboard based on the reports of that happening.

Hearing about the hit-or-miss granting of the stockholder OBC is bad enough, but I requested and received confirmation of mine months ago for our February cruise... I will be hella pissed if it suddenly evaporates when I step onboard. I'm sure the fare was discounted in some way -- it was booked in like 2019 and canceled and rebooked like so many others, and is definitely less $$ than what the current fare is, but wasn't a giveaway for sure. I get deciding to enforce the fine print going forward from some set point, but as others have said, yanking it back on an arbitrary basis after already granting it is just bad business.

Not enough details.

There already was one poster who said he booked and requested the OBC on 3 cruises all on the same booking code and was approved for two and rejected for one. Or is the detail you want which employee received his requests?

The employee that denied me was Mauricio

here is my rejection:

I can see where a temp employee or other newbie might approve OBC they should not have, which would be a reason why once granted it was revoked.

No but I might.  If I do, I'll update.  At first I was ok with it being denied because we got a $25 rate.  But now that I see others have been getting it, I'm mildly irritated.

I'll give you OBC if you can get me a $25 rate!

Hello,

Thank you for submitting your shareholder brokerage statement.

We are unable to process your request and as a valued investor, we trust you understand.  You are currently sailing on a complimentary / reduced-rate cruise BK # xxxxx

We value your loyalty and hope that you will enjoy a fun and memorable cruise with us.

You truly have an excuse for everything Carnival does. The rules are from the corporation, yet from reading the Princess or Holland America boards, I see no one having the same problem getting their shareholder OBC. I'm guessing the same could be said about Cunard and Windstar.

I'm not a mindless lemming that blindly believes everything posted on the Internet. Do you see people on the Princess etc boards getting $25 staterooms? Both Princess and HAL have prices that include drinks and bundles available to anyone. Carnival doesn't. It is not comparing apples to apples. Windstar now offers all inclusive as I understand it, but they haven't been under the Carnival umbrella in years.

They are under the same corporate umbrella with the same policy statement approved by the corporate board of directors.

Oh gosh we agree for once. Just get me one of those 25 pp offers and I'll gladly forgo the obc.

I am seeing some great offers including the one you prepay grats .. and those folks all want to know how to get around the offer and remove the grats the offer requires them to prepay. .. and people wonder why carnival pax have a rep for being cheap .. anyone removing tips is cheap in my book.

We are sailing on the NYE cruise, after 2 canceled cruises. We got the rejection first based on complimentary rates:

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR SHAREHOLDER ON BOARD CREDIT
Kindly be advised that we are not able to apply the shareholder credit to your booking As per Carnival’s Corporate website and the Annual Shareholders benefit letter, anyone cruising on a reduced rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer.
Best Regards,

I responded and explained how it was certainly not complimentary, it was a fully paid, canceled twice cruise.  I guess I assumed reduced rate was casino or something. They just responded saying the VIFP rate prevents the credit:

Regrettably, we are unable to process your request and as a valued investor, we trust you understand.

Currently, only those rates available which are a publicly advertised fare available to the general public, not an offer that requires a qualifying VIFP Club Member number, will be eligible for consideration of the shareholder onboard credit benefit.

We value your loyalty and understand that the shareholder onboard credit benefit may have been applied previously to exclusive offers for our VIFP (past guest) members, Casino players, complimentary cruises, discounted Resident, Senior, Military, Travel agent/ employee rates; however, these are discounted rates which are excluded from the shareholder benefit and we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding.

In closing, we ask that you not let this color all the fun that is in store for you when you sail with us.

I wonder how many shareholders have never ever taken a cruise ? Doesn't pretty much every prior guest get a VIFP rate?

Wow.  By excluding any VIFP rate from the Shareholder Benefit, Carnival has really negated the value of the Benefit for Carnival cruisers.  If Princess and HAL go the same way on Captain's Circle and Mariner rates, I will probably dump my Carnival stock.

You want detail, look at posts 218 and 219 on this thread. They are basically denying any shareholder who has ever sailed previously on Carnival!😢

No too happy about this. I have three cruises booked in 2022, all with casino rates, and just received the same response:

So it's not all rates, it's just rates which are the special rates, targeted casino or those lower rates. It says rates not available to the public. So it's not all vipf rates, it's the ones only a few on here are getting. If everyone can get the rate and it's a public rate it qualifies.

Not everyone receives identical VIFP offers.

That your cruise had been cancelled twice suggests something else besides rate code might play into rejection. Is this a cruise that had OBC associated for rebooking a cancelled cruise?

Yeah, we also got OBC for not requesting a refund. I guess I didn't consider VIFP a reduced rate--I thought that meant travel agents, or even military, casino, other bonus free cruises or whatever.

I hope you are approved for the fourth, but I suspect you will not be if you're cruising on a reduced or complimentary fare Carnival deems is reduced "enough."  I say this because we cruised in Sep, Oct and are now sailing again in Nov, all on complimentary cruises - I was approved for Sep and Oct but just recently denied for Nov.  Hope you get approved.  🙂

Thank you and I was earlier today. By Mauricio, no less. Certainly not a complimentary fare and most definitely not full brochure rate. But no OBC and I don't believe free drinks, but probably some sort of casino rate. When I saw a great cabin at what I thought was a fare rate, I jumped on it. No idea what the rate code was.

We have $600 OBC credit for our upcoming cruise,  Can I use my Carnival Stock Ownership to add to this $600 total? Didn't know if you could compound one on top of the $600? Our $600 OBC came as the result of not cancelling our Covid era booking.
