Anyone taken the Train to Miami port

We are thinking of taking Amtrak train from Tampa to Miami and was wondering about hotels near port.  Any advice?

There are always current threads on this board about hotels in Miami.  If you provide specifics (date, budget, important amenities, etc.) you'll get more helpful responses.

Also, rates are highly dependent on dates.  Go to google maps, find Miami, zoom in to the downtown area, search "hotels" and plug in your dates.  It will show hotels and costs on the map. Select each one and look at the review ratings. Pretty easy way to find an acceptable price and well-rated hotel!

February is peak tourist season - expect prices to be high.  Book something ASAP

The Amtrak Miami station  is located in the western  area of the metro. Cabs are readily available at train time.

We took Amtrak from the DC area to Fort Lauderdale back in October.  It was a great trip and I would love to do it again!

We are coming from Columbia SC so our total train tickets to Miami and back were right at $300 with insurance. Between fuel prices and the parking we would spend more than that driving down there. So we figured we would try the train. We arrive the night before the cruise at 630pm. The only thing I worry about is getting back to the train by 1110 the day we depart the ship.

AMTRAK station in Miami is only a little farther from the port than MIA airport - figure about 20-25+ minutes in a cab/Uber/Lyft.  As long as you are off the ship by about 9:00 or so you should have plenty of time to make your train.  Have a great cruise! 😎
