OH MY LAN!!!😱I was on her two weeks ago, only about 60% full but there were several crowd scenes in the venues. SO LUCKY this didn’t happen on that sailing.

Anyone know what happened here?! I am surprised they kept it quiet for so long. How did not come to pass that they found the cases, did people self-report or was the ship mass-tested? That’s what we really need to know.

I could not care less, just about to cancel our Navigator cruise because of the new mask rules.

There is no grand story to tell. People cruised. Some got COVID which can't be surprising, right, since you can get it anywhere. Some got tested and some are quarantined. Simple story. No drama really. Same story as what happens in many other places or venues around the world during the past 20 months.

Symphony is a beautiful ship! I loved my cruise on her and look forward to sailing again in 2022.  Have a good evening. Enjoy your next cruise.

This is actually not new news. It has been debated for the past 24 hours unfortunately (with some misinformation unfortunately that keeps circulating and getting worse like when we played the telephone game as kids).  There is no grand story to tell. People cruised. Some got COVID which can't be surprising, right, since you can get it anywhere. Some got tested and some are quarantined. Simple story. No drama really. Same story as what happens in many other places or venues around the world during the past 20 months of the pandemic. Nothing new or really earth-shattering to tell. Some people are making it into something dramatic. Its really not. Symphony is a beautiful ship! I loved my cruise on her and look forward to sailing again in 2022.  Have a good evening. Enjoy your next cruise.

So, not an “OH MY LAN😱” situation, you’re saying?😂

But in seriousness, yes, the most amazing ship I have ever been on. With opulence and wonder beyond description. I think I got on at just the right time. It was when I was on board that the news started breaking about OMNI and we were all like, oh my god, we were so lucky we took this cruise because things are about to get really bad

and here we are🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, Symphony is a awesome ship. I loved Central Park, especially at night. It's a great place to have some peace and relax. It's simply beautiful at night with the plants and lights. The Christmas decorations around the ship list made it even more special..  We really need a thread in which people share what they love about the ship. I cant wait to see what they do with the Wonder.

I see...so they didn't require everyone to be vaccinated and had specific areas where vaccinated people could be but not unvaccinated?

Thanks....I just need to get this clear in my mind to see what will be different on cruises now.

Rcl doesnt have a 100% vaccinated policy before or now. Not sure why you are asking if this one ship had a different policy than rcl ... nope. Same. 12 and up only need to be vaccinated. In fact a lot of carnival families are doing rcl as rcl is the only one allowing unlimited unvaccinated.

The policy has not changed, just masking in vaccinated areas.

Can anyone tell me if Symphony required 100% vaccination?  Also what about masking, did they require masking?  I want to make an educated decision...

Mandatory vaccinations for everyone 12 and over, unless you have a rare medical exemption. When people refer to the unlimited unvaccinated, they are referring only to the children 11 and younger that do not have to be vaxxed. All adults must be vaccinated.

There are vaxxed only areas such as the casino, some bars, some shows where the unvaxxed children are not allowed.  If the vaxxed adult does not have the child with them, they are still considered vaxxed and can go anywhere. Only if the child is with you will your party be considered unvaxxed.

New masking rules through Jan 5 went into effect immediately.  Masks are required indoors in all areas, including vaxxed, unless actively eating or drinking.

Is it safe to cruise, YES!  But you need to remember Covid is here to stay and you need to Mask up when indoors.

This is the balanced correct answer. Not the riddiculousness at the beginning of this thread with people saying things are going to become carnage. Their protocols are excellent and I feel very safe cruising. If someone in our double or triple vaxxed family gets covid -- oh well.

I was on the sailing. Sorry, but misinformation continues. The captain verbally and in the email to us said that the individuals were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. Both was included in communications with current passengers. And we were instructed of what to do and what was done.  I wish threads like this would not continue because so much gets misconstrued. The RC rep was misquoted or didnt say it to the media. I don't know. But, as a passenger on the sailing, I know what was told to us. I just ask that people that were not on the sailing please be careful what you interrupt from what is posted online. Emotion impacts communication sometimes and that results in inaccuracies that grow and grow. The "eyewitnesses" that people are quoting are also speaking from emotion and some of what they posted on social media is impacted by that. Even the count of positives is misquoted on various media sites. For some reason, people cant even copy and paste accurately. Really a lot more is being made of this. Yes, its unfortunate that some people are positive. Gosh, tons of people have been positive the past 20 months OR had COVID and never knew, but were going on with their lives. We don't all get tested everyday in our regular lives so we don't all always know how many people around us are positive on any given day, including us perhaps being positive but asymptomatic so not knowing.  I sailed. I knew I could possibly be exposed because COVID is everywhere. It's not unique to a cruise ship. I took a risk. So did everyone else who chose to sail. Yes, procedures are in place. Yes, things change and procedures change. Changes have been going on for 20 months also. Too much speculation has been tossed around the past 24 hours about this sailing and people are inferring too much. Can we focus on what we love about cruising. Like how awesome the Symphony ship is. Lately there has been so much focus on negatives that the joys of cruising had been lost on this site. I used to enjoy the site. Now it's just so much arguing, speculating, and just negativity. I don't argue with strangers online because my life is too full to waste time doing that, but I just had to say something because this is going on and on. I love cruising. I cant wait to see the Wonder next year and return to the Symphony. 🤗

Agree completely.  If a positive test terrifies you (it is ok if it does) then cruising or any other activity that exposes you to a mass amount of people just may not be the right activity at this time.

If those factors are worrisome then a cruise is probably not a good option.  Cruise lines can make a lot of rules but at the end of the day you will be exposed to a lot of people and the virus is gonna virus.  Not much you can really do (don't get me started on what a mask really does - it may help but it isn't a force field).  Even getting vaxed won't stop you from getting a positive test as evidenced this past week.

Well said! Mother has COPD/Health Issues, would never take her on Cruise before Covid. Me SOLO, healthy, would Cruise everyday last 6 months no concerns. Always brought 2 Months Meds, extra $$$$ with me, all this before CV and currently know possibility of Quarantine, removal from ship, as all who Cruise now should.
