janecambridge Posted January 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2022 We fortunately have just got our waitlist cabin for christmas and new year 2022. I am interested to know, due to booking speciality restaurants, if there are special christmas eve and christmas day meals in the grand dining room, also what occurs new years eve? I am assuming that speciality restaurants have business as usual.Thank you.
PhD-iva Posted January 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2022 While I have not cruised over a holiday, I have seen discussion of recent holiday events and meals. Try using the search function, and I think you will find some interesting discussions. I disembarked Riviera on December 3. The day before disembarkation, a large gingerbread town display was revealed in the lobby. I’m sure you will have a wonderful cruise. Happy holidays!
Rare ToxM Posted January 8, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Also interested in this and I think there was a Christmas dinner menu in the GDR from what I have read here. Are you on Riviera? If so we will see you then (covid willing)

cswhistler Posted January 8, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2022 We have spent several Christmas trips on O, the last around Australia 2019/20. They decorate around Dec 15th, tree & staircases, gingerbread town and leave plates of cookies out to help yourself. Turkey with trimmings in Grand Dining room (go early as popular) we took an extra specialty that night as offered (menu there remains the same as always). Even found a Christmas present on our bed. For New Years there is either an inside or outside party with some appies (as if we need more food) and free champagne. Festive music and fanfare. Most enjoyable.
PhD-iva Posted January 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2022 I was on Riviera for Thanksgiving 2021. Traditional turkey dinner was served/available in all restaurants. I ordered something else from the menu, but I’m sure it was very good.
Rare DENIE Posted January 8, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2022 Fun post. It is a dream of ours to do a Christmas/New Years cruise. But, alas, we both work full-time, and I am also a part-time church musician, so all my Christmas' in the future are booked! But, someday! 😄
pilgrimage Posted January 9, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 9, 2022 (edited) We were on this year's Christmas/New Years cruise. Turkey dinner for Christmas in MDR and Terrace, nothing specific for NYE. Nice, tasteful decorations, plus the gingerbread village. GIANT Turkey (which wasn't really upside down) Edited January 9, 2022 by pilgrimage 2

GIANT Turkey (which wasn't really upside down) When we were on Oceania for our last 3 cruises, each night in the Terrace they had a station where you could get grilled lobster tails, lamb chops and giant shrimp. Do they still have that?
