that way they use up my non refundable Shareholder's Benefit for gratuities

Is this a sure thing?  I have $100 non-refundable OBC.  I would hate to leave the ship, and find out that gratuities did not consume it.

Does Princess settle the bill the night before debark?  If so, the settled bill will show if it worked.  I might have to a last minute shopping spree in the shops  🙂

All non-refundable OBC is used first. Daily gratuities are automagically deducted from your OBC.  You can check your folio daily on the app and you (at least you used to be able to) can print it out at a kiosk near the passenger services desk. Ever since they got an online system I checked my folio daily in order to catch drinks they charged me for when I had the drink package. (It happens...)

When is a Princess On Board Credit OBC not an OBC....

I have OBC for being a stockholder. I am traveling with my longtime partner.

We decided to book a Princess excursion using these OBC. When I went to check out online

( and yes, you can book online before your cruise and have your OBC applied to the cost of the excursion)

and designated "pay with onboard credits" the credits equaling the amount of the excursion were deducted from the cost of my reservation only....not my partners.

Chatted with an agent online to surprisingly find out that my OBC (that i supposedly can use however I want 🤷🏻‍♀️)  can only be used for my excursion payment and not his.

On previous cruises, I have used OBC for the both of us at specialty restaurants, drinks,

casino and Sanctuary.

However, and my guess is that since Princess is not pocketing every penny you pay for their already overpriced excursions, they will not allow you to use these OBC for excursions.

They are paying excursion companies for their participation in what they are calling

"Princess Excursions" .

They are still making a profit on them but not as much as if you used the credits at the Spa, specialty restaurant, shops, etc.

I am wondering if the case was I was taking my 10 year old granddaughter on the cruise, staying in the same cabin and taking her on a Princess Excursion, would

that "rule" be applicable? Wouldn't you think the OBC that are mine can be used

however I wanted to?

Seems absolutely ridiculous to me and a bit on the greedy side as well....

not to mention disappointing in the scheme of things

Needless to say, no Princess excursions in our plans for the 25 day trip.

I had this exact experience today. Found out I can only pay for the cost of my own excursions.  Did you get a list of restrictions on use of the shareholder OBC?

I need investigate further, but it seems I can use the shareholder OBC for anything in the Lotus spa either.  I have no idea what I’m going my OBC on now.

What I was told is that the OBC are not accepted for excursions for anyone other than yourself in addition to medical and casino....🤷🏻‍♀️

If you booked onboard, it would just offset the cost of expenses to your room 🙂
