SNJCruisers Posted January 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2022 Had read that OBC could be spent starting sometime in March prior to your cruise, similar to how other cruise lines currently operate. Wanted to take advantage of the Cheers 10% discount and also wanted to burn my current 300 in OBC to use towards the 858 purchase. Was told that the program does not officially start fleet wide until March 15, but that people sailing on any Vista bookings between now and March 15 could spend their OBC at this time. It comes in handy if you wish to save 10% on Cheers or if you wish to lock in a table at Teppanyaki and apply your OBC towards payment. 3
Schoifmom Posted January 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) It starts fleetwide now for cruises that are March 15 and later. Are you saying you were able to use it for a Vista cruise that embarks prior to March 15? Edited January 24, 2022 by Schoifmom

Are you saying you were able to use it for a Vista cruise that embarks prior to March 15? I'm not on a Vista booking. The CSR I spoke to did say that the company is piloting a program on the Vista only that OBC can be used for any sailings between now and March 15. I am on a B2B on February 5 and February 12 on the Mardi Gras. I wanted to use up some OBC beforehand, but was told that it does not start until March 15, and that no exceptions would be made. Once again, we don't make the rules we just play the game. It's a bitter pill to swallow since Carnivals competition have allowed it for years. Once again Carnival is a follower, not a leader. Once again, it is available now on the Vista and the rest of the fleet on all sailings after March 15. The problem is that any sailings between now and March 15 that are not on the Vista can not use their OBC beforehand. Even though Mr. Carnival, otherwise known as Blerk One thinks it's funny this is just another example of Carnival being a follower, not a leader.
NCTribeFan Posted January 25, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2022 Good to read this. I have a lot of OBC for each segment of my B2B2B in October. I doubt I'll purchase Cheers since these are European sailings and you can purchase and carry on wine/liquor in the ports, and the sailings, except for the TA, are port intensive. I'm going to assume (!) that you can pre-pay tips using OBC. That would be helpful. Celebrity lets you purchase casino credits (either slots or tables) and gives a premium. I purchased $50 of slot credits and $50 of table credits, using OBC I have, and got $55 of each. I would really love for Carnival to do this! highcorral25 Posted January 25, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 25, 2022 I am on the Vista for a 2/19 sailing. I put the Cheers! program in my cart and the only payment options where credit card or gift card. I have $750 OBC for this cruise. Do you know how to use OBC? tattoos Posted January 25, 2022 #11 Share Posted January 25, 2022 Two weeks ago, I paid the balance due on my cruise departing April 30th on the Horizon. The same day I paid off my cruise, I ordered beverages to be delivered to my stateroom and I was able to use my OBC for payment.
angela715 Posted February 4, 2022 #12 Share Posted February 4, 2022 I just called. There is no pilot program available before March 15 on the Vista. :(
