highseaschick Posted January 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2022 Does anyone know what the true capacity for passengers the Silhouette has? Info on her say 2886 but is that considering 2 per room or is that the max capacity. Some cabins can fit 3 or 4 passengers and I have been curious if those are taken into consideration. That’s with two people per cabin. with every bed filled, it’s about 3,460 passengers.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted January 30, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2022 Per the Fleet Guide Total Maximum Occupancy - Total Maximum Passengers is 3,320.
laslomas Posted January 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2022 (edited) I was always led to believe that the maximum passengers is not based on the numbers of beds, but on lifeboat capacity. So that is why there is a difference. Not sure, but makes sense. Edited January 30, 2022 by laslomas

The ship has to have lifesaving capacity (boats, rafts, MES) equal to 125% of the maximum number of souls onboard (pax and crew). The ships will have more berths (beds) than this amount, in order to give those who wish to book more than 2 to a cabin, to have choice in which category of cabin they want. When a cruise is approaching the maximum number of additional berths booked, even if not all cabins are booked, the cruise line will stop taking bookings for 3+ per cabin, and require that the party book two cabins instead.

gold1953 Posted January 30, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2022 There can be empty cabins in one area and you can be refused a 3rd person in a cabin in another area due to life boats. It is based on muster stations and boats

When the ships went through Revolution they re-designated certain rooms and classes of rooms from 4 to 2 to meet the Certification Maximum which among other things include life saving equipment and boats. It was interesting to read the fleet guide as it shows the maximum of each room type, showing the before and after (the Maximum remained the same)
