2 Week Cruise to Norway for $200

I received a new casino email today and although I don’t have any more vacation time I can take this year I was intrigued enough to have a look at some of the itineraries. To my amazement there are some fantastic deals available and not just for casino players.

May 15/22 -14 days on the Volendam to Norway - Mariner price for inside or Ocean view… $200 …..no zero missing that is the price.

Another itinerary that caught my eye…

Dec 19/22 - 14 days on the Westerman to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam inside or ocean view stateroom $200 ….a Christmas/ New Years cruise for that price is unheard of!

Those were not my casino offers, but just what I found looking up the itineraries listed on an outside website.  A vacation to stop sort of site.

Anyone interested in the full list I will be happy to post.

I received the same offer today.  I considered the Volendam Oct 8-22, RT Venice, but, already have quite a bit of travel this year.  I put it on hold, but, after much thought am not booking it.  ETA:  The $200 pp is credited back as OBC.  One is responsible for port tax which is minimal.  Another positive is the cost of HAL's insurance is very low, only $99 per person!

I to received the offer, there was also some Pacific coast, Alaska, Caribbean, and East coast offers, but you are right the Volendam 14 day for free is a huge deal, free drinks at Casino, and 250 in play money, the only problem I am having is looking at flights from MN, it's like a 23 hour 3 stop flight to get to Rotterdam on those dates. Yuck

It's also for an Ocean view cabin, we have always booked Verandas but really do not utilize the veranda, are the rooms themselves pretty cramped in comparison to a Veranda?

I just looked at the website and room size varies greatly. The Volendam doesn't show verandah cabins, just lanai or signature suites. When we've gone with an ocean view, depending on how the bed is situated (on a side wall or under the window) we opt for the twin set-up if it's under the window. It's much easier to look out the window and easier to store stuff on the window ledge. And we're on the May 15 sailing of the Volendam. Can't wait!

The Volendam has Vista Suites but no Signature Suites.

The Vista Suites appear to be what would be a regular balcony cabin on other, larger ships. The Signature Suites we've been in in the past have been larger than a standard balcony cabin.

Having never sailed on the Volendam, I would be interested to know if the Vista Suites are in fact just a regular balcony cabin.

They are in essence a regular verandah cabin BUT the rooms are larger on the Volendam (and the other R class ship) than they are on the larger ships IME.

Thanks for the information. We do have one booked for our May cruise so I was curious.

Happy to help.  If you go to halfacts.com you can see pics of that category - just choose R class and any ship in that class except Noordam will be similar.

Thanks, Jacqui! It's hard to tell size but it does have a full size couch versus a love seat that was in our NA balcony cabin. I so wish the Volendam had Signature Suites. For us, they're a good size at a good price.

I hope they have switched out the little TVs (and DVD player) that seem to be taking up shelf space near the desk during this dry dock🤞. Wall mounted would be so much better.

We are booked on that cruise to Norway on the Volendam, but in the Pinnacle Suite.  We intend to cancel before final payment; still not ready to travel internationally due to covid.

But just for fun, since we are paying 70 times more than that for the Pinnacle Suite, I looked at the HAL website to see it for myself.    Right now the price they are showing for an inside cabin is $2099.  That is both me looking as a guest and logged in with my mariner number.  So I suspect the $200 was a mistake they since corrected.  I hope some people did actually manage to book it.  Although I can't see myself staying in an inside cabin, it is essentially a free trip.

I can assure you it is quite real, possibly only offered up to some? Just went on and took screen shot.

Well if my word is worth anything, I have been on the R class ships (and the old S class ships now sold) and believe me, the cabins are definitely bigger and the verandahs deeper.  I’m not saying they are huge but there is a big enough difference to notice for sure.

The TV’s were switched out at a dry dock (I think maybe 2018/early 2019 - my memory fails at times 😉) and are now the larger tv’s and demand tv.  You will be fine 🙂
