Return Travel to the US from Porto - AmaWaterways Enticing Douro - September 27, 2022

We are booked on the August 27, 2022 sailing on the AmaDouro, with the pre-cruise in Lisbon. For those who have traveled this itinerary, how did you return to the US from Porto? Did you fly or use other transportation back to Lisbon? Did you connect through another European city? I am trying to avoid going through customs at a connecting airport in the US. Fingers crossed that we are able to go!

If you don't want to go through customs at a connecting airport in the US, first find out what western European cities have direct flights to your airport. Then look first to see if you can get a connection from Porto to your airport via one of those cities. If not, you can look at going to either Lisbon or Madrid.

We are returning through FRA to SFO.  I agree, better to connect within Schengen than in the US.  As I recall, there was a connection through MUC that we would have preferred but it was sold out for our October flight.  Booked on UA but there might be LH metal in Europe.
