My husband takes medical marijuana with a prescription from a doctor.  Will that be a problem?

Sadly yes, it is till illegal in many countries. While states have it legal the federal government has it illegal which cruise lines have to follow federal law.

Yes it is illegal and cannot be brought on board.  That being said, the likeliness of them being able to distinguish between a vape Tabacco pen and a vape THC pen are probably slim to none...I would not have said item in my pocket but lost among a make up bag in luggage will likely go unnoticed...so I have been told 😉

Cruise ports and their terminals are under federal jurisdiction.  In Washington State, recreation marijuana is legal, but you can not bring it to either cruise ship terminal/pier (Pier 66 & 91).  Drug sniffing dogs are used.  Edibles are not allowed either.

Not allowed. Oh and I have seen the cops board to pick up people in the Bahamas, I guess they "forgot" about it. If it's that necessary, i would follow the rule and not cruise. If you choose to break them, you risk going to jail in a foreign country. Have fun.

This! Or even better, edibles. Discreet, not smelly and no one really would care to be honest. If you take herb or vapes, smoke them in the regular smoking sections and don't blow up the cabins/hallways. Too many rude people do that and stink up the joint (pun intended) and have it smelling like stale arse. Edibles are the way to go IMO and most discreet, vapes not far behind and dried herb last. Technically it's prohibited though but you'll smell plenty, depending on what port you sail from. Out of any west coast port, for sure 100% guaranteed lol.

Smelled it every day on our 4 day Breeze cruise in October of 21 and my girlfriend and her daughter smelled it on her Breeze cruise last month.

Texas representing eh? 😉 I couldn't care less personally but there are some that just go to town in the cabins and have the hallways reeking. This one couple on Panorma had the whole floor reeking, it was nuts. Take that shyt to the smoking sections with the cigarettes and cigars and get your puff on, not everyone enjoys skunk funk lol. Makes the smoking sections more popin too, lot's of interesting folks to chat with lol.

So is TSA and they don't give a crap either. Initially they used to take things but after a lot of states legalized, they just keep it moving. I know someone that was a higher up supervisor there when the directive changed. Been that way for years now. You don't even got to hide really (personal amounts only of course) they see it all the time. Times are changing.

This is interesting as I haven't yet cruised and smelled it....I did assume everyone took it to the smoking section...reminds me of Vegas though...went this past July and do not think I did not smell pot for one single minute the entire trip....and we stayed at the Venetian not downtown etc....

Cosmo has less of it because they have balconies for people to partake on. I enjoy a cigar, smoke or even flavored nicotine vape when sipping the fire water but don't really like smoking in the hotel rooms. Makes them reek. Casino I don't mind either, just not the rooms. It is everywhere though and folks even rudely smoke in nonsmoking rooms. Heck just walking down the strip you'll hit clouds lol. It's like Santa Cruz, it just becomes part of the experience lol.

Not worth the risk, weed or regular cigarettes. Not allowed in cabins or on balconies.  $500 fine for each violation, may be put off the ship at the next port, may be banned from sailing on Carnival in the future according to Carnival's website. Don't know if this is ever enforced.

On our cruise in January our balcony on deck 6 was above the smoking section. Someone must have smelled the pot and called security. They were down there going through the contents of the ash trays, don't know if they got anyone. Personally, I'd rather people were down there quietly smoking their pot and getting mellow, than drinking in the bars and casino and getting loud and rowdy!! Of course, Carnival wouldn't make any money off that unless they started selling pot in Cherry on Top.

Don't know why marijuana isn't legalized in every state. Too many lawmakers watched Reefer Madness, I guess.  Drinking legal alcohol causes a lot more problems and deaths than pot.

I smelled it on the Horizon last month walking to my room. It was easy to tell what cabin it was from, and during that walk was discussing whether or not to call when we passed three security officers turning from the elevators and heading down the hallway.

I won't even enter my opinion on the legalization / potential harm or not / etc. argument. I don't care to be involved in the decision on what you do on your own time in your own home, but please don't set the ship I'm sailing on ablaze (literally, not figuratively) in the middle of the ocean just because you need your fix of anything that requires fire (tobacco or other).

Also have smelled it on the Breeze both times I've been on her, but in both cases I believe it was near the smoking section. I let that one sort itself out (or not).

Thank you for posting this part.  While we've all smelled it and know it is onboard, and people frequently get away with using it, there may still be consequences.  I'd hate for anyone to go in thinking "It's no big deal" then end up on the wrong side of drug charges and consequences that they didn't anticipate.

I live in Indiana (not legal) but am close to both the Illinois and Michigan borders (legal) and for many people, the legal headache and consequences are entirely unanticipated.
