May not want to waste time on boogie board. It is mostly the younger kids. It is way less challenging and it bangs up your arms and body pretty good. Go straight to stand up surfing if you are athletic. So you can't get banged up when skipping the boogie board style and going right to the standup surfing style.........just how athletic are most cruisers? 1 out of how many? If you can even stand up.......sure seems like a further fall to hit the water when falling when standing up. Don't get the your idea less chance of getting hurt standing up opposed to just laying on the board.

Don't get the your idea less chance of getting hurt standing up opposed to just laying on the board. Up to each person. But the boggie board will bang you up doing it several times. Scratches, bruises, skin burns, etc. Your feet drag so it is gonna happen. And if you wipe out and get shot to the back you can get hurt just like on stand up. For the little ones too small for stand up this isn’t that uncommon. They are so light it just shoots them to the wall in the back if their body is sideways to the “wave” coming at them. That doesn’t happen when one weighs more. Yes, if tall on stand up, a hard fall could cause injury. They key when new, tall or short, is not fighting to stay up and concentrate on falling the right way. Then very little chance of injury. Of course there are always risks, but that is true for both boogie and stand up. Kids/teenagers with some athleticism usually pick up stand up very quickly. In my experience, older kids almost always strongly prefer stand up. That is just what I see and hear meeting folks in line. It’s fun because you meet and chat with folks from teenagers to 70+ plus on occasion. Often parent and kid in line doing it together day in and day out. For me I will probably go all week with not even a scratch. If I boogie boarded Id have scrapes and bruises all over. It just isn’t any fun to me. I’d sooner do other things if boogie boarding was the only thing allowed on the flowrider.

Well that part is true. I was think more of newbies. Takes a bit to get to that. Those advanced enough to do that typically prefer stand up. I wonder they will make me do boogie first on my upcoming cruise. That would be weird.

The norm has been that you need to show you can handle the boogie board before they give you the blue wrist band for stand up (when you sign the waiver forms you usually get a white wrist band). But do not rush to try to see and do everything at once - pace yourself over the week. You will have plenty of time to do the things you want. Things to do: Aqua Theater Broadway show Production company show Ice show Flow rider Comedy show (adult in nature) Jazz club (if you like jazz) Ultimate Abyss Rising tide bar Boardwalk activities Escape room Music hall Zip line Sports court That should keep them busy. Have they started allowing you to pre-book shows in the cruise planner again? That would be awesome! One of the more minor reasons I am still waiting to book is the booking when you board. As an obsessive planner, I want everything set when I board so I can just go get a drink and not worry about anything except Sail Away.

We printed out a list of all the bars onboard and had a Pub Crawl. The rules were only that you had to have 1 drink at each bar and check it off the list. No prizes or anything just seeing who could do them all in 7 days. Well 6 considering you can't really get a drink the day you disembark. It was so funny seeing the other couples we were cruising with popping into the different bars as we were leaving them lol. I think it was something like 32 bars on Oasis. Might not be for everyone but the challenge was interesting lol Challenge accepted!! 😉

Rare livingonthebeach Posted March 16, 2022 #39 Share Posted March 16, 2022 For the boys: In addition to the abyss, zip line, flow rider, pool, water slides etc. there is rock climbing and ice skating (when the rink is not in use for shows) - there's also arcade games and ping pong, billiards, if they are so inclined. There's also late night disco geared to young people in their twenties. For you: Solarium, spa, casino, shops, cooking classes, dance classes, movies, theatre shows, gym, fitness classes, speciality restaurants, bars, etc. etc. On Oasis, there's no lack of activities and fun things to do for young and old alike. They will definitely give the aqua show a try. They aren't going to sit still for a musical, though.

When able to pre-book, typically the following are recommended to schedule: Broadway based show Aqua theater show Ice show Comedy show If not available on the cruise planner to per-book, suggest doing so via the app ASAP once on board. If you have access to the Concierge via your C&A status or if booked in a suite they can assist directly. All of the venues accept walk ups but with seating as available once all scheduled guests check in. Once scheduled each is loaded via your SeaPass card, which will be scanned at each venue. Your reservations confirm date and time for each. I would suggest arriving at least 10 -15 minutes early for each venue as the general seating is on a first come basis.
