MSC Status Match Process

First cruise on MSC and question regarding the status match process. Once booked do you join the Voyagers club first then submit the status match request? Or do you just submit the status match request which then also enrolls you. Their customer service is horrible.

MSC might change the order of the status match.  For our case we got matched first and they assigned us the Voyagers Club Number with that number we received 5% discount on the cruise price.  MSC gives 10% discount for veterans/military people (must submit the required DD214 veteran discharge paper).

The process can be hit or miss.  When DW and I applied, iirc, the first time lost.  Then second try one of us got it right away but other took a bit.

They used to also give the 10% discount to fire, EMS, and law.

Do the match first.  I joined first and it took WEEKS to straighten out.  Had I not signed up first, it should have shortened the process.  Although not to as simple as it should be.  Patience is key, politely keep chipping away and wearing them down and eventually it goes through.

Several years ago (2018?) we did the status match and got matched to Diamond from NCL Platinum before our first MSC cruise. That no longer happens as they restructured the match. It was funny, because some staff assumed we had lots of MSC cruises under our belt, when in fact, it was our first.

Plus NCL added tiers so how will MSC deal with that.  At top of NCL, they added a tier so while we were PP, we are now tiered down a level.
