Princess FAQs  states -

Currently, only Princess shore excursions are permitted in:

  • Bridgetown, Barbados
  • Gatun Lake, Panama
  • Roseau, Dominica
  • Castries, St. Lucia

At this time, guests can explore other destinations on their own or on independent third-party excursions.

Please can anyone confirm whether passengers can wander independently around Caribbean ports ?

Looking for March and April dates. Personal experience please.

Specifically. St Thomas, St Kitts, Dominica, St Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Aruba, Bonaire

Many thanks.

Disembarked from the Enchanted on March 20th we were given information during the cruise as to which ports required either a ship or port authorized tour.  Things are evolving so your dates may be different but this is what I have.  Also this is assuming there are no Covid cases on your ship.

St Thomas      No restriction

St Kitts            No restriction

Dominica        No independent tours   Princess or Port Authorized

St Lucia           No independent tours   Princess or Port Authorized

Grenada         Princess and Independent tours allowed

Barbados      No independent tours   Princess or Port Authorized

Aruba            We did not stop there

Bonaire         Princess and Independent tours allowed

In short the only 3 ports for us that did not allow independent excursions were:

Dominica

St Lucia

Barbados

And only one port (sorry can't remember which one) required everyone to show their vaccine cards.

Independent excursions were allowed on Bonaire last week (we were on one).

I hope it was a snorkel / scuba ?  Bonaire was my wife's first open water snorkel after learning how to in our pool ... it was great, but she didn't get to see a sea turtle

Yes! it was our second excursion (my 2 DBs and SILs first) with Woodwind.  Great as always!  We saw a small green sea turtle.  In 2016 we saw a number of large green turtles at the second snorkel spot but this time we went to a different spot because the wind was picking up significantly and the second spot was more exposed.  Glad we went there though; we got to see a multi-year experiment on growing endangered elkhorn and staghorn coral in tree nurseries.  https://www.reefrenewalbonaire.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/RRFB-2018-Annual-Report.pdf
