No, I think those certificates for $ off a  future cruise are for purchase  on Viking River cruises only. But you can use those certificates for dollars off a Viking Ocean cruise.

While you can't buy cruise certificates on board on Ocean cruise, you can book a future cruise, which you cannot do on a River cruise.

 

There are perks for booking while on board, in addition to being able to apply a cruise certificate.

If I remember correctly, they can only be applied to new bookings, although some have reported using them on existing bookings.

I think you can do that only if you cancel and rebook.

It does say new bookings only on the certificate but I think that "new" means booked after the purchase of the certificates.

 

I guess I will find out what it really means when we go to apply the certs to the final payment of the cruise we booked this past December; the certificates were purchased pre-Covid so they definitely were purchased before we booked.
