I know it is what they say but that formula never seems right when I monitor my points vs play. If you are playing max bet at a slot machine I have found it to be close to $1 bet = 1 point. IF you are playing video poker then the 1 point for every $5 seems to come into play.

If you put $100 into a slot machine, win $80, play that $80 balance and win $60, You have now played $180 in that slot machine. You lost $40. How many points is this? 100? 180? 40? How is it calculated at a table like blackjack where they are not counting up the dollars of all your bets? Is it calculated from the dollar value of chips you buy? roughly 180 points could be earned. Again, depends on slot machine vs video poker. Basically when you sit down at a table and present your sea pass to earn points they will calculate points off your average bet. the amount is then reported to the pitt boss to put into the system. There are definitely some disadvantages with point system and table games.
Rare lfreda Posted April 14, 2022 #29 Share Posted April 14, 2022 Slot points are calculated by what is know as "coin-in". You earn 1 point for every $5 wagered (1 point for $10 on video poker). As a simple example, you put $100 into a machine and each spin costs $5. You will earn 1 point each time you spin. If you win $1000 on your first spin and continue to play with that balance for 3 hours, you will still earn 1 point for each spin. Table games are calculated with time and average bet and almost never accumulate the types of points that a slot player will see unless you have a significant average bet and are spending a lot of time at the table.
happy cruzer Posted April 14, 2022 #30 Share Posted April 14, 2022 The points are different between slots, video poker, and table games vary because the expected return on each game is different, i.e. the casino will average more return on slots, than the other games based on long term averages.
Roybthered Posted April 14, 2022 #31 Share Posted April 14, 2022 Last year due to covid my DW and I could only go on a 4 night British Isles cruise (well it was out of Southampton no stops and back, the first one ) and were looking at doing it again later in the year she then received an email saying we had a voucher from the casino. We called and booked another cruise (5 night around the UK) and said we have a voucher from the casino and they comp'd the cruise! overjoyed. My DW plays in the casino each night giving herself $100 limit a night, she normally wins and at least breaks even by the end of a cruise. Her points do add up but nice to get a free cruise. DirtyDawg Posted April 14, 2022 #32 Share Posted April 14, 2022 I 'win' free cruises by 'betting' in the stock market. The stock market gives me way better odds than a cruise ship's casino ever has. 📈📉 1

If you play anyway, take the comps they give you and don’t gamble more to try and get better comps. Use your chosen bankroll and see what happens. I have a much better return in the stock market than gambling…not really the question here. For us, two different buckets of money and the gambling one is much, much smaller. tampadee Posted April 17, 2022 #34 Share Posted April 17, 2022 We haven't cruised on Royal Caribbean since 2019. Just booked a cruise through the the casino yesterday. We are Prime from past cruises and upgraded our "free" oceanview cruise to a grand suite. A free cruise does not include port charges, taxes and fees. We enjoy playing slots. Most of the time we don't come out ahead. Some ship's casinos are looser than others.

It has nothing to do with the amount of money you put into the machine, only the amount wagered. I have had $100 generate 1000 points. On my best trip, the $2 or $4 free play they gave at the beginning ended up netting me 2700 points, plus $500 in cash to walk off with.

Each ship seems to be different. From Royal Caribbean's own rules:"The number of concurrently active SeaPass Cards may be subject to limits set by Casino Royale Management." Each ship is different. We have generally found that you cannot combine points for your tier but if you each have certificates from play you can often combine them. We have combined our annual tier cruises (DW is Prime and I am Signature) as she gets an interior and I get a balcony and they let us combine and upgrade to the JR Suite. The casino also has great upgrade rates from time to time. There is a forum here on CC for Cruise Casinos and there is more knowledge from the experienced casino players on that board.

luckyinpa Posted April 18, 2022 #40 Share Posted April 18, 2022 timely thread topic. does royal always go strictly by points and no offers unless you reach the threshold? i havent sailed on princess since 2019 but just got some pretty good offers from the players club. sample below. immediately after my first cruise i did get some really really good offers back then (bottom 2 pics) and i only put 60 bucks into the machine and lost most of it. sadly couldnt do any of those other offers back then. sigh. so they def are sending offers to the peons and i wish royal would

Yes, you could be down $500 but you could be up $500 and your points would be the same. Also, they allow you to share your account with your spouse and combine your play to get 800 points for a free cruise or 2,500 points for Prime and a free cruise plus free drinks in the casino for a year. How do you get them to combine your account with your spouse? Do you have to do it while still on the cruise?
mike45orlando Posted April 19, 2022 #42 Share Posted April 19, 2022 Not combining accounts per say.On our last 2 Mariner cruises, the casino host issued me a blank white sea pass card in my wife's name to use in the casino so my points were her points (we were using 2 separate cards on her account at the same time)On our recent Symphony cruise, because they have the new card tap system, the casino host showed us to just tap her card to the slot machine that I was using to add my points to her account. We were both playing on her account at the same time but I had to go get her card every time I switched machines. I was shocked to be honest. Now I haven’t had any of those since to restart, but I know some others have. Who knows how they decide though, that would be harder than trying to figure out the weather in on a given day in five years 😂🤣

kjunea Posted April 19, 2022 #46 Share Posted April 19, 2022 Hubby likes to play poker, Ultimate Texas Hold'Em, and Craps. I only spend $100 a night on a cruise. If I win, I pocket the money, if I lose, I lose. After our cruise on Ovation to Alaska last September, we were each offered a free 5 night inside room, which we combined for an ocean view 5 night on Mariner in December. Now, we have been both sent free 3-5 night inside rooms. We are doing a Back to back on Navigator in August, a 3 night, then a 4 night in a Promenade room (hey, its a window!). But I think we are small potatoes.

I just noticed today our annual prime cruises have posted to their website.
Rare TexasRon Posted April 21, 2022 #49 Share Posted April 21, 2022 We just booked a 4 night cruise from Galveston via a casino offer. We both had the same offer code, so they offered a free upgrade for the combined offer to a balcony. An upgrade to a Junior Suite was $300, We each get $50 in free play. We upgraded to a Owner's Suite for $1500; the price on line was $2350. This cruise is for my wife's birthday.
mrsjetpup Posted April 21, 2022 #50 Share Posted April 21, 2022 My sister went on her first cruise right before the Pandemic. It was a five day cruise and she probably took about $100 a day to gamble. Her first day, she hit a $3500 jackpot. She gambled a little bit after that but she didn’t want to give the money back to the ship, so not much. She has gotten offers for free cruises since then. We are finally going next month on a four day one out of San Pedro. Most of the offers have been for shorter cruises, but there were a couple of 7 day cruises also. The offer is for an inside cabin, but we were able to pay the difference to get a balcony.
