Drink package purchase when in a room that holds more than 4.

Recommended Posts

We have an annual girls tennis team cruise. We normally sail in the 2 bedroom grand suites with 4 people in each room.  There are non drinkers in the group and drinkers.  So we book the drinkers who buy the package in the same room.

We are looking at the 4 bedroom suite on Liberty and have all 8 booked in that suite. Since it is 2 reservation numbers does Royal still require all 8 to buy the drink package or is it by reservation?

Does anyone have experience in this scenario?

Since you are in a suite do you need the DBP?     I am not familiar with Liberty but there should be a suite lounge where you can drink beer and wine between 11 and 11 and other cocktails during happy hour.       And if anyone is Diamond or higher they will receive the drink vouchers that can be used anytime of day at any bar.

In most cases they do require all adults traveling in same cabin to purchase at least the refreshment package if one purchases the DBP.   You will have to call Royal and ask if they can make exception to this policy since there are non-drinkers in your suite.

That's only on Oasis class that the SL is open starting at 11.  Other ships is just happy hour.

The issue is that there are 2 reservations but the guests are in one room as you can only put a max of 4 on a reservation.  Its how the cruise planner is coded...by reservation or by room number.

If its by reservation then only 4 have to buy the package, if its by  room number then all guests would or at least the non drinkers would have to buy the refreshment package.

I wasn't sure if the SL applied to Liberty sailings.   Thank you.
