cementhands Posted May 2, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2022 We enjoyed Maho Beach and the planes ✈️ a few years ago. But last time it was washed out, cabbie showed us and took us to different beach. Cabbie said it’s often washed out an then it’s refilled. Anyone who has visited in earlier or in April or May 2022 enjoyed the full beach! Looking for reliable information for cruise in near future. Thanks 🙏
strickerj Posted May 2, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2022 I haven't actually been, but there's a webcam at the Sunset Bar that faces the beach: http://sunsetsxm.com/plane-info/ It looks sandy to me. :)
Rare crewsweeper Posted May 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2022 Yes there's sand but not as much as there used to be before the hurricanes.
lynncarol Posted May 6, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2022 We (a party of 5) were there this past March. The beach was sand but there were so many people at the beach that you could barely see any unoccupied sand. In fact, one of our members was so put off by the crowds, he refused to get out of the van. The rest of us stayed for 45 minutes, watched 3 plane landings and then left. Fortunately we were on a private tour as there were no parking spaces either so our driver could drop us off, and keep looking for a space to park. What a zoo! Ashland Posted May 7, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2022 Just there last week...beach is very small and interesting to see people scampering with their towels/chairs as the tide came up. We were very lucky got there about 10:30am had our pick of tables at Sunset Bar...saw several small planes and three large one. We taxied there and back...easy peasy. svmodi Posted October 2, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2022 We will be in St Maarten in December on RCCL from 9:00-6:00. We already did an island tour on our first visit. This time we would like to spend the day at Orient Beach and stop at Maho Beach (just to see the planes) and Marigot open stall. When is the best time to go to Maho Beach (in the morning or afternoon) to see the big planes come in? Is this doable by taxi or should we hire a tour operator/excursion?
