"Gray and orange"?? LOL. The correct term for the color is "greige" which was the hot designer thing about the time of the Hoppening. Just thank the stars that Hoppen wasn't obsessed with ship lap. Personally I thought the lighter, brighter look after the supposed revolution was welcome in both the SS and in the Retreat Lounge.

I'm surprised to see this thread now. I thought all the backlash against the Hoppening was over years ago now. At least this SS didn't have a freaking ROCKING CHAIR in it!

I do remember that there were almost no magnetic surfaces anymore after the Hoppening (in our Summit SS), though there was one, perhaps the wall to the bathroom near the cabin door? Difficult to remember two and a half years on.

Sure there are some weird and unfortunate things about it but generally everything was still functional enough. Frankly I always found the tub a PITA to use so screw showering, go rinse off in the pool shower (where's there's plenty of space) before and after a nice dip and maybe a nap in the T-pool.

Ship lap hahahahaha you made my day! Thank goodness she’s not putting farmhouse sinks and barn doors in the cabins

Honestly, I bought a couple of these and they did not work. It may have been the type of tile in my shower. Not sure. Just be careful.

Did you find one that does work?

Hi Barb! I am enjoying your posts and must say I am astonished at the size/look/feel of your SS! Looks to be very uncomfortable, to say the least. It sounds like your aft CC will be much more comfortable. Hope you are all enjoying your b2b cruises (in spite of the accommodations).

In comparison, we are now in an aft CC1, but I think they have a different name now. In our opinion, this room better meets our needs better than the SS suite. For your comparison…

Room 9160

Smaller entry way and no place to hang things my the door, but the walls are magnetic in most spots so our hooks are working.

There is space in the closet on the left side for long hanging clothes, plus a shoe shelf. On the right side is a hanging 806388C8-CDF2-48C4-AA56-FADC4CFDE5C9.thumb.jpeg.d574cadc8d5a3673bd89ff61a9119135.jpegD734D4BA-FFB8-4E66-91A9-F2E026E50F3A.thumb.jpeg.9d77fe7faba7b0a6455af87b81241be8.jpegA4FA8987-E393-4AFF-B005-8D2468DDC1D6.thumb.jpeg.9ff520241dd48626f2700c95a5e2783e.jpegbar for shorter clothing plus 3 shelves. Bonus-the inside of the left closet door has a full length mirror.

Next to the closet are glass enclosed shelves (4)  above a 4 deep drawer dresser. Next to that is a single door container holding the cooler. These are not refrigerators and also was a cooler in the SS.

The bathroom is much more functional than the suite with shelves by the sink and to the right below the sink, bright lights, nightlight, grab bar in shower clothes line, and a different shower head with much better water pressure. Same products as the suite- which are Bigelow. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner take up all the holder space so you may want to bring something to hold your stuff like the one I attached (Amazon I think) with a magnetic hook.

door opens inward and shower is not large so some may have issues with this. Foot rest in corner.

Room has a hanging light by left side of bed and no outlets. Right side of bed has light on bedside table with 2 American plug ports and 2 USB ports, plus the phone. Both bedside tables have a drawer and 2 shelves.

Desk has a lighted mirror that is lower than the SS and desk is larger with 3 deeper drawers and three shelves. Still no make-up mirror in either room. Hairdryer is in the bathroom with us plug.

Chair is more comfortable and fits under the desk.

Opposite desk in small seating area and the same table as in the suite. I have the table by the nightstand where it is out of the way and fits great.1CE7E206-7BEF-4B37-8434-75D053E1CD44.thumb.jpeg.054eba0239e36998f94375bf95e26174.jpeg3E62E911-4147-4D96-99C6-71E142D57AB2.thumb.jpeg.e45f7067453fd84ffd6e2f0f0845e6c1.jpeg780B4F1D-715C-4001-AC46-2616DDFB4517.thumb.jpeg.aba8ca412dbfc5860b379d80e562e036.jpeg

Thank you so much for your detailed review! The SV is almost perfect, except I would love a bigger sofa and a coffee table big enough for eating. And it’s more functional that an SS! Look at that bathroom storage space!

The sad part about the whole tub issue is it was so easily solved, simply by scoping out the competition.  Oceania replaced the tubs in their R class penthouse suites (the sky suite counterpart), with walk-in showers.  They are spacious, safe and functional.  Those units are also a good marketing tool, as we decided to upgrade from the teeny tiny R class standard bathroom to a PH for the shower alone.

As an aside, we had a butler tell us he once had Ms. Hoppen in the Penthouse, and even she complained about the room.  He of course didn't voice his silent reaction: "But you designed it....!!!"

Can you please tell us how the repo cruise was? How did it feel with only 360 people? Was everything available? Did many people get COVID or quarantined? We want to know whether to book this for next year?

thanks!

With any luck at all, none of the items in your list of questions will exist a year from now, and won't be playing any part in decision making, but it's far to far away to use when considering booking a 2023 Spring TA now.

We were just down the hall from the OP and share many of his observations.  Everything on the ship was open, but with only 353 pax many features were under utilized, at least by us.  We didn't need the retreat lounge (except to grab a couple of Evians) because the bars were not crowded.  Always a seat at Martini Bar.  We didn't use the Retreat sundeck much because it offers no wind buffer, and the wind was 20+ nmh for much of the voyage.  There's also no rain cover or shade so the weather needs to be perfect for the Retreat deck to be of value.    Friends now on board (with 5 times the passengers) report a very different feel.  We were spoiled.

As Bob mentioned, we know of only one COVID case, as it was in our hallway.  The passenger was not moved from the room...I believe because wheelchair access was needed.   Whether you book next year is really not a decision you should made based on this very unique capacity experience.  But based on the suite layout and balcony situation, we would opt for AQ aft on deck 11.

so you used these bars at home and they did not work?  Did you bring the bar on your cruise?
