Rare aring75 Posted May 14, 2022 Author #151 Share Posted May 14, 2022 Our main course was the filet mignon and shrimp. These were also labeled “spicy” but they had absolutely no spice whatsoever. Good, but definitely not spicy. This was paired with a Duckhorn Merlot. I love the Duckhorn Cab, and I was pleased with the Merlot pairing. Rare aring75 Posted May 14, 2022 Author #152 Share Posted May 14, 2022 Dessert was the fried cheesecake from 150 Central Park. Personally, I would take the Chocolate Peanut Butter tart served with Red Wine Sorbet from 150 any day over the fried cheesecake, but Mark loves this one so he was definitely happy. It was paired with a Dow’s Vintage Port. It was good, but to me port always tastes like what would happen if you let raisins dissolve in a glass of red wine. Rare aring75 Posted May 14, 2022 Author #153 Share Posted May 14, 2022 All-in-all this was a very enjoyable lunch. I liked the wine pairing and if I found it online ahead of time, I think we would do it again some time in the future.
Rare aring75 Posted May 15, 2022 Author #154 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Our final day at sea headed back to Port Canaveral was the calmest seas we’ve seen since the Mediterranean. Last evening’s dinner - Day
Rare aring75 Posted May 15, 2022 Author #155 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Coconut shrimp appetizer Tortelloni (this was very good, could’ve used some fresh parsley, but probably one of those supply chain issues or something) Turkey Dinner Summer Fruit Pavlova for dessert. Didn’t look like anything special, but tasted good.
Rare aring75 Posted May 15, 2022 Author #156 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Currently sitting in the Star Lounge while they slowly distribute new sea pass cards. Also. Received our authorization for Bermuda, but they have us on the Norwegian Getaway. Apparently, this has happened to quite a few people. There’s supposed to be a representative from Bermuda onboard offering approvals for people who need corrections to their authorizations. We’ll see what happens. Rare island lady Posted May 15, 2022 #157 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Everyone we have talked to that are on the B2B second leg...is having the same problem with the Bermuda travel authorization nightmare. Ugh... I was unhappy that I did not book this second leg, but happy now that I did not with what you are all going through. 😮 This is one week off, and then onto Harmony B2B. Glad I did it that way after all. 😉 Got home around 9 am, 2nd load of laundry in already. Getting all fresh for repack again. Hope you enjoy your Bermuda leg...should be fun! 🙂
Rare aring75 Posted May 15, 2022 Author #158 Share Posted May 15, 2022 Okay. So Mark told me this morning that his throat was hurting quite a bit more than yesterday. Called Medical and they told us to both mask up and head on down to deck 1. The nurse on duty gave both of us a PCR test. An hour later it was confirmed. We both tested positive for COVID. Nice. We were instructed to pack up and they would escort us to our vehicle waiting in the parking lot at Terminal 1 (the ship was docked at Terminal 5). Now I have to call Customer Service shoreside to figure out how to get our refund. Not how I was hoping this week would go. I do hope everyone headed out this week on Mariner has a great cruise. Wish we were there! 2

ATG Posted May 16, 2022 #161 Share Posted May 16, 2022 I’m so sorry to hear about your positive test. But, probably better today than later and being quarantined. We got off about 7:40 and took the shuttle back to parking lot. No boot on the car and nobody around to collect so we just left. On the road at 8:10. Home in SC at 4:15. I have never seen so many state troopers on I-95!

Especially since you both tested negative earlier. 😞 There will be other cruises...what really matters is that you both get well soon...health comes first. 2

Wish we were there! Sorry to hear and hope you feel better soon. I was reading through your thread as we are scheduled to sail the ABC's on Mariner mid June. For the first time in all my cruising (and I have many under my belt) I am actually on the fence if I want to go or not...so was reading your review and sorry to see how your cruise ended. We have sailed 3 sailings since the restart all at very reduced capacity....it was fantastic to be sailing with just 1000-1500 people aboard all 3...spoiled us. I not a person that is in fear of covid at all but I have been following and am still hearing of outbreaks aboard and am not sure I want to sail at pretty much full capacity for 8 nights. Was flicking through YouTube and was also just watching a video of another couple that tested positive and was isolated on Symphony this past week and their experience....and they were reporting that they weren't alone....many outbreaks on the ship....they were showing the covid isolation deck as being pretty well occupied with positive cases. Anyways...feel better and again thanks for the review.
ATG Posted May 16, 2022 #164 Share Posted May 16, 2022 Suite concierge told us about 2900 on Mariner last week. I did not hear anyone talking about massive numbers of people positive. Even if there had been 3% positive, that’s less than 90 people. That would leave over 2800 not impacted. The cruise was great with really good ports. Only you can decide what your comfort level is.

For some reason we actually survived...and no Covid. 😉 Happy to be headed back to the port to board Harmony B2B next Sunday....after getting through my mail, and doing all my laundry! 😄

I feel like I have a bad cold (sinus pressure, runny nose, etc.). Mark had a sore throat, but it's mostly gone now. The worst part has been the fatigue. LOL, came home with several loads of laundry and did not feel like doing ANY of it. But we were both vaxxed with one booster and feel like the symptoms surely could have been worse. I have emailed Royal's Customer Service department and will follow up with a phone call later. I will post if I have any difficulty with refunds. I'm am expecting it to take a while. We'll see. 2 hours ago, FlorenceItaly said: Very sorry to read this. But, very glad for you that it happened today and not tomorrow! You are able to recover at HOME. I am absolutely glad that our positive results were discovered before we began the 2nd leg of the cruise. I would have been really disappointed to experience my first trip to Bermuda from a quarantine cabin. We tested positive at 9:00am on turn-around day, but we were not escorted from the ship until 2:30pm. The woman who helped us once we exited the gangway on deck 1 told us that she had been escorting covid-positive passengers all morning. I don't have any actual numbers but it does seem like quite a few of us were in the same boat (so to speak).
