We've never sailed with RC before, and I've been hearing some posts about free casino money. Does RC give every guest $8 in casino credit? How do you see this on your account once on ship?

I think $6 of the $8 was from our Diamond status.   I think everyone has a little bit if used the 1st day or two.  Ask for instructions at the cash window at the casino.

We got a paper with instructions on how to set up casino accounts at the cash window. After setting up our accounts my wife & I both had $4 casino credit on our cards which we used to play losing slots.

Does this $5 one take you right from the ship to downtown?

The tram will take you to the end of the pier where the city busses are at.  Once you board the bus goes to several stops in the city.  I noticed a bus in town waved down so a couple could board.  The busses circles all day from the shop, around town and back to the ship.

I just remembered we have a RCL excursion in Skagway so I won't worry about taking the bus from the ship but I hope we can catch the $5 bus to take us back to the ship.  When we were there 7 years ago I remember that long walk back to the ship from downtown.

I don't know how it works but maybe before you leave tje peer you might want to see if you showed by the ticket then or if you can pay in town.  You probably can but after all we walled I would check.

Back on the ship.  Current temp is 51⁰F. Wind is 22mph wind gust 32mph.
While we were out it seemed more windy and stronger gust.  Some long extended gust would move us.  Although 50⁰ doesn't sound to bad, the light drizzle combined with the wind made it very uncomfortable. While in town the wind is blocked.  We actually took off some layers because it's warmer out of the wind. But for the walk to town and walk to the trails you needs several layers if it's windy.  Once on the trails it wasn't bad.  The trees block the wind.

If you decide to wing it and go to town to see what the family can do there I noticed some tours offered.  😆

I thought some of the seats around town were a little tall.

These are the instructions we received. I believe when you transfer that you find out your dollar amount.image.png.55ea4a16d06a8fbe75297166d375c8e9.png

In Skagway there are several trails to walk scattered all around.  We got a map from the National Parks headquarters downtown.   It had info on all the trails such as difficulty,  elevation,  etc.  The trails we went to were rated moderate.  To get there we went left of town and walked through a neighborhood like area.  The more open it got there was more wind and cold.  Almost there.

Crossing this bridge was windy and cold.

We have AT&T service and it has worked well will at port.  Our friends have Verizon and I believe their service has been good too. We will be departing from Skagway soon.  I will be getting back on Ship wifi and also taking a break.  I have a lot to catch up with.  It will probably be a few hours.   Hopefully the wifi will let me.

Thanks everyone that is following along.  It is fun to share an adventure!  Later

We are waiting for food at Skagway Brewing Co.  Maybe I can post some .

One of my favorite places in Skagway. 🍺

I hope you had a 'spruce tip' ale. I have one every time I am there, and so far, I haven't had scurvy 😂

For those that don't know, this is from their website:

Spruce beer is a well known part of Alaska’s maritime history. When Captain James Cook made his first voyage into the Pacific during 1784, two sailors were employed as full-time spruce beer brewers. Cook and his men drank the beer to prevent scurvy, which is a disease caused by Vitamin C deficiency. You see, spruce needles are capable of producing a tea with 50mg of Vitamin C per 100 grams.

At some point, someone must have asked, “If we can brew spruce tea, why not brew spruce beer?”

That person is a hero.

Just be aware it's $35/person to go up the Space Needle.

That is why we elected not to go...but I regret it.  We missed Chihuly too, just couldn't make that happen in so little time.  And now, I just won't go through Seattle because of the past two years of chaos.  Just Vancouver for us thank you, marvelous city!

The first day I saw him doing a vlog.  I was about to say hi but he was talking on his recording as he walked by.

Walk from the ship to the bus to downtown is probably ½ mile….my guess!  I was walking it leisurely and it took me 10 minutes.

From the Skagway Brewing Co. It was almost 1 1/2 miles to the gangway.

I keep forgetting to take a pic of the food.  We are in the MDR and it's going real good tonight.  This is Seafood Puffy Pastry.   I had to turn it around and angle so you didn't see where I started eating.   😆
