CruzR887 Posted May 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Cruise ends in Civi at 5am on a Monday. There is a direct flight home from FCO at 9:55AM. Can I make it?
CruiserBruce Posted May 12, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2022 Going to be very tight...docking at 5am doesn't mean getting off at 5:15. If you read around, the earliest commonly recommended flight is 10:30....what happens if, as frequently happens, the airline changes your flight to an earlier time?
euro cruiser Posted May 12, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2022 For a direct flight to the States you need to be checking in at the airport three hours in advance, in this case around 7 AM. It's an hour ride from the cruise port to the airport, so if you think you can be off the ship and in the car (a private car service is the only way to accomplish this) by 6 AM, go for it. I think it's a push personally.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2022 We have taken flights, a few times, that depart around 11 am. This was not a problem since we arranged for a 7am private transfer (Rome Cabs) and was at FCO around 8. Your 9:55 flight is a bit tight for my taste and you will likely pay extra for a private transfer prior to 7. You would also be well, advised to do,Express Disembarkation where you must go ashore with all,of,your luggage. If your ship docks on time and is cleared n the normal time (usually about 20 min) then that early flight is doable. Personally I would not like the additional stress. You also should have a Plan B which is what you do if you miss that flight. Hank
BethesdaSC Posted May 16, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2022 Can I ask a question re: ship arrives 6 am, flight would be 11 am to the states. If I’m in a private car by 7 am, and no traffic etc on a Saturday, is it doable? Thank you!
euro cruiser Posted May 16, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2022 Yes, that's doable assuming you can be off the ship at 7.
BeginnercruiserHD Posted May 16, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) I'm just kind of piggybacking, but is a 1:15 departing flight okay for a 7 AM dock time in Civitavecchia with a private transfer? That's the latest flight we could find to the US. Edited May 16, 2022 by BeginnercruiserHD

Ride-The-Waves Posted June 3, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Booked flights FCO to US via FRA using Celebrity Air. They gave us a 1005 departure time from FCO. We have booked transportation at 0630 from ship to FCO. According to Celebrity, that is within scheduling parameters,

According to Celebrity, that is within scheduling parameters, Until the airline moves the flight departing FCO earlier...which is unlikely for a domestic flight like that to FRA, but is pretty common for longhaul, US bound flights, as the airlines try to use their time in FCO wisely. The other issue in your benefit is security clearance at at FCO for a domestic flight, as opposed to for longhaul international flights that OP is probably asking about. The difference between domestic and longhaul as it related to making your flight at FCO can be significant.
