Cheers for The Rookery!

We recently stayed at The Rookery, pre-cruise, in London for 3 nights. The hotel is lovely, the staff is fabulous and so helpful! It is located away from the "fray" and super easy walking distance to Farringdon Station. This was an excellent choice for us.

Glad that worked out well. It's a pity that you were just a few weeks too early to use the central section of the Elizabeth Line, which has a station at Farringdon. This location will be even more convenient when that opens, and even more so once the Elizabeth line begins to operate as a single railway (probably late this autumn).

Did you try any of those local restaurants?

We tried the Chef's Gordon Ramsay's hamburger place which was quite expensive, but the service was good and the meat was high quality. We also tried an Italian place across the street but it was also expensive for what we received.

Thanks for the feedback. Was Brutto the Italian place you went to? I'm particularly interested in trying that, as it's had some good write-ups.

I looked at a map and it looks like that was the one. DH did not care for his meal. My salad and pasta were ok. I worked in a fabulous Italian restaurant in the Portland area that was so yummy and authentic. We only had Italian wines and made our pasta and risotto from scratch.

We thought it was expensive for what we received, but London IS expensive. It was very crowded which speaks for itself. Our table was basically next to the "pantry" area where the servers dealt with dirty plates and bus tubs, AND the new plates to be served. That was freaky.

London's not only expensive, but we're pretty much always short of space!

Thank you for the further detail - that's really useful and interesting.
