Hearing disabled Lip Reader needs advice

I am a solo traveler who is severely hearing impaired and need to lip read.
I have a button badge to wear which says "I am Deaf, I need to Lip Read" but people don't seem to comprehend that I actually do need to.
As masks seem to be here to stay for a while has anyone in a similar situation any advice for me apart from toting a pen and pad to offer them. 😉

I already have organized the "deaf assistance package so it is more about interacting with people.

I know it may seem tacky, but you might look into getting masks made with something like ‘I am deaf, I need to read your lips’ on them.  I realize it doesn’t solve your problem…. EM
