Current mask and testing rules

Could someone help with current rules.  What are rules for mask  wearing onboard and on excursions and are butlers still taking temperatures each day.

 

We are going  Venice, Croatia,  entice on 17 June and have not yet received boarding info.

It all depends on local requirements where the ship is at any time.  SS follows local regulations.

Can't say what the rules for your cruise will be, but we just completed the 12 day Silver Moon cruise from Southampton to Reykjavik and I can tell you about that cruise.  Temperatures were not checked.  Masks were required during the muster drill in the Dolce Vita lounge, in the Venetian lounge (the show lounge), on tenders, and while riding in buses during excursions.  Otherwise, masks were suggested but not required.   A fairly large majority of the people on our cruise did not wear masks when not required, although some people wore masks most of the time.

Thanks for this.  May I ask: did Silversea provide you with a covid test onboard for your flight back to the US?

They did provide tests. We were not able to use those tests because we were returning to the US the day after disembarkation and the test had to administered no more than one day before our return to the US. They did not administer early morning tests on the day of disembarkation.

Currently on SS cruise Copenhagen to London.  Masks are suggested to be worn indoors whenever not actively eating and drinking.  Masks are required in the Show Lounge, Casino, on tenders, on tour buses.  Temps are taken every day by either the Butler or the suite attendant and need to be done by noon.  If the front desk doesn't see a result for you then reception contacts you to come and get your temp taken.  We are doing a back-to-back cruise so testing for us was done the day before the second half of our cruise began and results sent to our email that evening.  For folks who were departing the cruise and flying to the US on the day of disembarkation, testing by SS is being done with results provided with the passports when they are returned to you on the morning of disembarkation.  All done very professionally and very organized.

 

This being my first cruise since Covid, I have to tell you that I was very concerned and a bit panicky about how this was all going to work but so far everything has been handled very simply and professionally by SS.  Hang in there...you will get an email from SS about 10 - 15 days before the cruise departure date with clear instructions on what you have to do.  Follow that and it will all go smoothly.

I am interested to note that Guests on The Moon Report that they are not being Temperature Checked each day - if this is the case there is no consistency of Protocol throughout the Line which is somewhat worrying.

I assume there are no Cases of Covid on your Cruise as there seems no way of knowing ??

When on Whisper, last month, it was a bit of a mixed bag.  Temperature checks were required, but we often had to go to Reception to get it done.  I don't know if that was our butler was spread thinly or what, but I do know you'd get an email calling you in if you hadn't done it.

 

Masks were not required anywhere but in the theatre (maybe also casino) and tour buses.  However, our Cruise Director (Fernando) plead with us a number of times to wear them more often because we were getting cases on the ship, and he was concerned about ports turning us away.  Just about everyone on board complied, except that many would take them off after they sat down in the theatre.

 

Tour group numbers were kept down so that you had no more than about 15-20 on a full-sized coach.  Other than that, many guests showed little interest in distancing.  That said, though, a good number of them had recently been through Covid, so they really weren't in danger of communicating or contracting it again so soon.  This was a leg of the World Cruise, so a lot of the passengers knew each other well and who had been through what.

A recent study in the British Medical Journal revealed that Omicron does not provide any immunity to reinfections. Just FYI.

On the Dawn in May/June our butler came to our suite and took our temperature every morning.

I think it’s better to be safe, no matter what the rules are if you feel uncomfortable not wearing a mask—-don’t worry what others think, just wear it and be a little safer.  Enjoy your cruise.

Actually, they found that omicron provides less immunity than prior strains, not no immunity.  They also found that the amount of immunity omicron provides depends on whether the subject previously was infected with other strains.

Just off Silversea Moon in Copenhagen, Denmark. Masks required on gangway, tenders, and Venetian lounge. Most people wear masks every where inside because at last count 22 guests with covid and 37 crew. Over 7%. So many cases people are isolated in their cabin as the deck 6 covid section has been full for a while. We are fortunate and lucky (you can take every precaution and still get covid so luck is a factor) at the airport with 2 negative tests two days in a row. Onward to the QM2.

That makes no sense. It's more important to be masked when sitting next to or in back or front of someone in a theatre for 45 minutes than when just walking by someone for a few seconds.

Considering how many people contracted Covid on the previous voyage on the Moon, it looks like the virus continues to work it’s magic through the crew, unfortunately.

Deck 6 at the end of the corridor…there is a set of glass doors that have restricted entry.  We were in 632 and we observed 2 sets of meals being delivered in disposable containers plus 2 pots of coffee etc. at meal times plus medical staff going/coming. I was a bit concerned before we embarked because I had read in these posts that deck 6 was being used and that the rooms were cordoned off with yellow tape.   Seems that they constructed new glass doors from what we observed blocking that end of the deck with a sign forbidding entry.   We had zero concerns.
