Carnival Liberty ?

Recommended Posts

Those who have sailed on the Liberty recently, please give us a quick review. Cruised on it 7 times in the past. Last time we were on it was Sept 2017 and we are on it again this June 27th. I read that it is still a really nice ship.

I literally debarked from it today. Had a fun short cruise. I’ve sailed a lot of mass market, and felt like service was clunky at times, but I can say that it might have just been Carnival; it’s hard to say when I’ve only sailed 2 3night voyages on the line. The dinner buffet was awful, like really bad. But Guy’s, Blue Iguana, Pizza Pirate & surprisingly the Deli more than made up for it. Entertainment was good enough, the main show was pretty mid, but not bad. Comedians were funny. Drinks were good, and there was enough to keep us busy, which is a plus too! All in all, I had plenty of fun, and would sail it again for the price I got.

Glad to hear. Our 4 night cost cruise only is $204.00. Great price and got the cabin we always used. OBC is $25. Casino play $50 and our Stock $50 I am sure it will be fun and too short.

We also got off Liberty this morning! Kudos to the Captain for getting us thru the stormy weather! Wasn’t bad at all. Liberty is still a nice ship. Only had salad from the buffet at lunch, deli wasn’t open on Friday at lunch, but was on Sunday around noon when we went to lunch. Had a Guys burger, it was ok, but not as good as they were prepandemic, and the fries definitely weren’t the same. Had 6 pm dining in Silver Olympian deck 4. Have to say our wait staff was the best we’ve had in a long time, actually had 3 servers, almost like old times! Food was good, portions have been cut down, but still plenty. Our balcony cabin was in good shape, as well as the balcony. Cabin steward was so busy! Definitely still short staffed!  We didn’t do any shows, been there done that. The casino was nice, had lots of non smoking machines and it wasn’t smoky at all to us. Our only complaint was the number of passengers, must be back to fun. We definitely won’t be doing a three day again! Very loud and some rude people. Just a different clientele than longer cruises. Liberty used the new Mardi Gras terminal which was nice. Embark and debark went smooth. They still need to do something about getting an elevator down to the lobby! Must have waited on at least 10 before we got one. All in all, Liberty still is a good ship, this was probably our 7th time on her.

I noticed this on Panorama as well, a lot more people are vaping these days and it cuts down on the cigarette stench. The folks at the tables were 100% vaping only when I was in there, still some analog smokers for sure but a lot less than before.

They need to get back to the original Guys burger or just get back to the old burgers Carnival cooks did themselves, not Guys. I think I was on the second 2.0 ship that Had Guys burgers. Might have been the Sunrise or Sunshine. Super juicy and thick plus delicious. No more. For several years now they went down to almost no good. Last Carnival cruise they were so very thin and burnt you could actually see through them. terrible. Fry's were burnt and soggy. If the Deli has fry's they are usually very good. When they are not busy I ask to ahve one made my way. But the ball on the grill, mash it down once only. Not over and over. Then yu get a somewhat good burger. Still the taste that was great is no longer. The Velveeta cheese give it some zing to taste.

I’ve sailed on the Liberty for an 8 day in January while subbing for the Horizon… then went back and did a B2B in March/April. The bar and dining room staffs are great. The buffet is a buffet… not my thing. The deli and BI were highlights. Seafood Shack was really good. The 3 day cruisers are something else, but a weekday 4 day is nice. Rooms were fine on the Lido (9) and 6.
