Table game limits

My wife and I like to play blackjack/craps. What are the minimum bets on these games?

The regular blackjack tables come in at least two minimums:  $6 and $25.    The $6 minimum table only pays a 6:5 blackjack (which, if you bet the minimum, becomes a 7:6 blackjack payout, not very good).  The $25 minimum blackjack table pays blackjack at 3:2.   Carnival also offers a blackjack variant called Fun21, which has a $6 minimum bet.   I don't play craps, so am not sure what the minimum is at the craps table.

I have seen $10 Blackjack tables from time to time. I can't recall how they differ from the $6 or $25 tables however. I'd imagine there are differences in the rules or payouts but I'm not sure what they are.

Fun21 is $6 minimum, pays 3:2 and is my preferred game incidentally.

Here's a shot at the table limits from the $25 BJ table on the Liberty.

They offer a high max (I watched a fellow playing table max on three spots a couple of months ago). On Celebrity earlier this year, I was surprised to see the $25 table "only" had a $500 max - though, it was at least a shuffled game as opposed to a CSM.

It's a shame the $6 blackjack/fun21 tables are a thing of the past. That will cut out a lot of casual players I imagine, or greatly limit their length of play. I wonder if they're increasing minimum bets on the slots too?

On Carnival, unfortunately, all the lower limit blackjack tables I saw had a 6:5 BJ payout. The only way to get the (traditional) 3:2 payout is at the $25 table. I won't play 6:5 BJ.

HERE'S a link to an article describing what that difference means to you.

Excerpt:

How the Difference Affects your Bets

The house edge is increased by 400% when the 6 to 5 variant is played. In the basic version of 3 to 2 Blackjack, the house edge remains in the range of 0.5%.

Hence, if you wager $100 then the average they can take on is $0.5 when you play 6 to 5 the edge shoots up and becomes 2% and hence, for every $100 you wager you would be contributing $2 towards the house. The differences are magnified since serious bettors make wagers in thousands.

On the Vista a couple of weeks ago, all minimums had gone up to $10 on blackjack/fun 21.  No $6 tables anymore at all.  Was told this is going fleetwide.

Dang.  Was on the Miracle over Memorial Day and the Fun21 (also my preferred game) was still $6.   Will be on the Miracle again in July, hopefully the Miracle will still have a $6 minimum.

Fun21 takes me way back - back to when I carried around my "Fun Bucket"!  😄

If I recall, that's where I first encountered a very friendly casino host (Nikko) who would keep my bucket filled. We sailed with him a couple more times but, unfortunately, he apparently had a reputation for pocketing cash from people buying in to the tournaments - and was canned (rightfully so).

I'm guessing you have a Spanish 21 strategy card, or at least know the correct changes to basic strategy?

I played that out in Vegas a few times too - even a version that would let you double your double. It can be a lot of fun!

Come to think of it - does Carnival offer the Double Double option?

You hit the nail on the head.  I am a Spanish 21 player, and have read the definitive work on it by Katrina Walker.   I get dirty looks when Spanish 21 (. . . .  and so Fun 21) basic strategy varies from reguar BJ basic strategy.  Like when the dealer is showing a four upcard, and I have a 12, and I hit it.

I don't think that Carnival allows a double on a double at their version of Fun 21.  But I may try it, like when maybe the dealer is showing a six, and I have an Ace and a four, and then double, and get another Ace.  It doesn't hurt to ask if one can double again!  The most important rule in Carnival's Fun 21, though, is that Carnival allows early surrender.  This can save you a lot of $$$ when the dealer has an Ace upcard.
