We are on our first NCL 8-14 and I have been doing research and it doesn’t seem that they will open them. On a Carnival ship and they opened them, most recently last month.

Each line has their own preferences.

 Thanks!

Here are two of many threads -

and the pre-filled search using the phrase 'balcony dividers'

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?q="balcony divider"&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=64&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy

Bottom line - policy is that they can't be opened.  It seems you didn't really have a question, just stirring the pot on a controversial topic we haven't seen in the last couple weeks?

Didn’t mean to stir a pot! Sorry I asked about it!

helene109: you're a little late to the party, this issue has been discussed many times. It's NCL policy, they will not open the balcony dividers. it's considered a fire hazard to keep them open. some people have previously advised that their cabin steward did in fact open them. if so, he/she did it at the risk of their jobs. so, sorry, it's not happening

The NCL preference is "no" it poses a safety hazard to the ship.
