Deal or No Deal - Pre Purchase Online

In my Cruise Planner I see that you can purchase Deal or No Deal cards online pre cruise and realize this is not a new thing, just new to me.  They offer 1 card, 3 card, 4 card purchases, all currently at a 20% discount for my cruise.

My question for those that have either purchased these pre-cruise or bought multiple cards ahead of time, if I purchase the 4 cards which is the best bang for buck, do all 'package purchased' cards have to played at the same Deal or No Deal show or can they be separated to perhaps play 2 during one show and 2 during another?  Basically would each card stand on it's own and be playable on it's own

Both me and my travel partner want to purchase the 4 cards but don't want to have to play 8 cards together in a single game show, we would like to be sure we can break them up to at least two game shows.

Thanks all for your insight/experience on this.

They might only do it once per cruise

Ya then there is that.  My cruise is a 9 night so was thinking more chance of it happening more than once but total crap shoot I guess.

I am intrigued.  How does this work?  I am familiar with the tv show.

One card purchaser will get chosen to play the game like you see on tv, but with 20 cases (and no million dollar case!).

If you're not selected, you play along by matching the value revealed in the game on your pull tabs.

For example, case #4 is revealed to be $1. When you open case #4 on your card, if it's also $1, you have a match.

You don't win the money amounts though, you win prizes based on how many matches you have at the end of the game.

They did it 3 times on our 7 day cruise in March, once for each sea day.  Is that a typical schedule?  We have an upcoming cruise with 2 sea days so we are expecting it to be played twice, so my wife and I each took advantage of the pre cruise pricing.

I have never done this game.  I am hoping if someone can tell me how much each card usually costs when purchased on board.  I am thinking about trying it because this game seems to have replaced Bingo. Is it fun?  How long does the event take?  Have you seen anyone win a cruise or any big bucks while playing or is it a total rip off?  Hard to talk myself into buying before the cruise even at a discount having never seen the game played.

That matches what I've been reading, that it is done on sea days.  I am going to take the chance and buy the 4 card package and see how it goes.  If they have it on the first sea day I will inquire with them the chances it will occur again on my cruise.  I played this once on NCL long time ago.

What appeals is not only the 20% off but the better deal to get four cards.  One card is $19.99 but four cards 39.99 so that's a big difference per card... BUT again I am curious to know if they can be played at different hosted game shows but I think I might have to take a chance and it'll be what it'll be and worst case I will play four at once.

It is a total rip off. You have to be desperate for entertainment. Only one person gets picked out of dozens who paid substantial money to play and end up, maybe getting a free photo. Just my opinion. I’d rather throw it in a slot machine.

Thanks, this is what I suspected based on their Bingo payout.

My last cruise, we pre-purchased 2 of the 3 packs.  They were playing twice on our cruise, so our intention was to use one set each day.  When I gave my card, they automatically pulled us up for all six.  After I explained, they reloaded one set to my husband's card.  You cannot buy the 3-pack deal and split those 3 up, but can by more than one set and use on different days.  We found the next time it was easier to buy one set on my card and one on his so they did not try and use all 6 at once.  We just swiped one card for one session and the other for the next.  When you prepurchase, you pick the person you are buying for just like dining or shore excursions.  Hope this helps!

Yup, the way it worked was by matching the amounts revealed to the corresponding numbered tab on the card. More matches = bigger prize. On our cruise, no one got more than 4 matches. I don't remember the payouts exactly but I think they were 1 match =0, 2 match=$5, 3 match =$10, 4 match=$25.

You totally helped as this is exactly what I was trying to confirm.  I ended up just pre-purchasing one 'pack' of 4 and me and my travel partner and I will just play together even though it will really belong to me.  Still debating getting another but how you explain it will work is what I was expecting, that a 'pack' purchase cannot be broken up across events which is understandable I guess.

Thank you!

I have a lot of experience with D or no D. we first found it on APEX in 2019 before it spread to all X ships.

First for those who don't know. The Casino and games like Bingo are Not run by X but are a concession operated by outside vendors. Ever wonder why your Bingo winnings were paid by going to the Casino Cashier?

Like any Gambling the Odds are always with the House. I'm sure they found out D or no D is a profit maker. Like Bingo the Jackpot is determined by the buy in. Sure the $1000 top prize it dangled in front of you but the game is manipulated before it starts by the computer.

I was once selected as the person to choose the case opening on a day when few people bought cards. I  ended up with $128. The 2nd. person ended up with $98.

The BEST way to Win at D or no D is to be the person selected for the Last chance after the 2 case openers. That person gets to Spin and Imaginary Wheel with the arrow pointing at One of Eight prizes.

4 Are Cash and 4 are A Free 7 Night Caribbean Cruise for 2!

The Cruise prizes are probably paid for by X so the Casino doesn't care if You win?

I have seen 2 guests win the Cruise so I would rather be the guest picked to spin at the end.

The guests that buy Cards  for D or no D get to Play Along as the cases are opened but you don't need to do Anything as the Computer keeps track of how many (if Any) matches you get on your Cards.  One match is worth nothing and few people get more than 2 or 3. Those with matching case opening do Not get Cash unless you get up to a large amount like $300(not sure) but Match Play in the (wait for it)  the Casino!

You go to the Casino and their Computer knows how much Match Play $ you have coming. You can use that on Slots or table games. You Can't Cash in your Match Play $ but any $ you win while Playing with your Match Play $ you get to keep in Cash.

I once had $200 in match play and turned it into $480 cash but after all the Cards I have bought over many cruises I'm probably about even.

Nothing like watching a previous show to see what it's like and whether it appeals.

As for price, the pre-cruise price is discounted 20% so you can see what the regular price is.

Is that Cruise Director Louis in this video?  Can't tell from such a distance but it sounds like a very calm version of him.

We got a 5 match on Apex back in June, and won $200 casino freeplay (which we turned in to $330 in our pockets at the slots).

I was just on a Princess Cruise (Ugg) and they had D or ND for $50 and had the 2 winners opening the cases But Did Not have the third guest doing the imaginary Spin for a cash prize or a Free Cruise like I have seen on all my X cruises.

I'm looking at the Captain's Club benefits and it says complementary D or No D bonus card with purchase.  I'm Elite and it says you get 1 card with purchase of a 3-pack.  Do you know if I can call the CC and get that benefit applied prior to sailing, like you can with the premium drink package discount?  Or do I have to be on board to get it?

Right now in the Cruise Planner they price is listed as 31.99 for a 3-pack, regular price of 39.99.  The 4-pack is on sale for 39.99.  If I can't get the benefit until I am on board, then I might as well buy a 4-pack right now for 39.99 because it is the same as buying the 3-pack onboard for 39.99 with 1 free.  I assume they don't ever have any markdowns on the packs once onboard.
