We watched the April 8 TSE from the top deck of a cruise ship off the coast of Mazatlan, Mexico, and it was utterly delightful! Of course, it was early spring, and out on the ocean, so we didn't have excessive heat, but the experience made 10 days on a WAY TOO BIG ship worth it. I sincerely hope that your experience is just as special.

Maybe it will make the heat tolerable. At least we have 2.5 years to make our decision about the trip. 😉

The only thing that wanted us to make it back was to see the new Museun which maybe will be open by then. But we decided that we didn’t want to spend four other days there. I looked at the itinerary for each sailing date, and they were each slightly different. I could only see the cities listed for each day, and all were designed to get you to the Luxor area for the August 2nd eclipse. I definitely understand not wanting to spend more days in Cairo. IF we decided to go on this trip, I might look into private tours in Cairo. Hopefully the Grand Egyptian Museum will be open by then, which would be a big bonus for us. When we were there in March 2022, we were told the GEM would open by the end of 2022…not. Interesting fact… This morning, in Total Eclipse on the Nile cruises are showing as sold out. Do you think that could be the case? Wondering if Viking was just testing the waters with this trip?

Days Sailed: 414 Days Covid-Canceled: 260 Days Health-Canceled: 41 Days Booked to Sail: 79 Just getting started Thank you! My favorite is usually my most recent. In this case, that would be the Arctic expedition we just did with Silversea: Tromso to Reykjavik via Svalbard and Jan Mayen. We saw so much fascination geology and wildlife, including a mama polar bear with two cubs at close range, chowing down on a walrus. Before that was a Total Solar Eclipse cruise on Princess, where we had 4:24 of totality at sea in April. We cruised 60 days ealier in the year in eastern and Southern Asia, including a river cruise on the Mekong. Most of our cruises have been on Celebrity. As of a few months ago, for the first time since 2017, we don't have any Celebrity cruises booked. We are just pretty much over larger ships. Since this is a Viking thread, and I don't want to be too far off topic, I'll mention that our next cruise is on Viking Ocean from Puerto Rico, across the Caribbean, and up the Amazon River. This will be followed by a flight to Panama City, then an Azamara cruise through the Canal, then back across the Caribbean to Florida, flying home just before Christmas. The funny thing is, this will be our first time in the Caribbean. We've walked on 6 continents, and seen Africa, but we've never been to one of the most popular vacation spots of all. We will visit Africa for real next January through March. We are very grateful for our many Celebrity cruises, not only for the great experiences and memories, but because those cruises earned us status on Azamara before the split, and on Silversea, which got us included laundry on that last cruise, as well as a big discount on the Galapagos expedition we booked onboard. We are very fortunate, indeed. 3
deec Posted July 16 #1675 Share Posted July 16 Many years ago we did Galapagos with Celebrity, one of our best trips...we were with 7 couples and called it Camp for adults!! there is a local drink in the sailing cirlcles of Detroit called the Hummmer....the ship made it for us...no easy feat because it is ice cream baed and they made their own ice cream. Memories are wonderful.
