Just returned. Liberty cruise

Recommended Posts

Some up dates some, positive, some negative. Your extra shot is now $4.00, Max bingo play is now $48.00 with a very small payout. $150.00 game 1 and 2, $250. game 3. Final bingo for the week was $150.00 then $650.00 then $1,200.00. Every day had a crowd for bingo. Carnival did real good for themselves on Bingo. Masks were worn by ALL personnel. Masks for guests was optional but they gave you masks in your room. Very few wore them. Food. Basically not as good as before. However, the very fist day and only the very first day the deserts were awesome. But not after the first day. Guy's burgers were acceptable. Nothing great. If you like super thin, crispy pizza, that is what you got. Deli, very good as usual. Mongolian Wok. Standard super long line. An hour or more. Lines on both ends went out the doors to the elevators. The good. Elevators ran smooth after the first day. Our room was really clean and looked nice. The window drapes were excellent to kill the morning light. Make sure you arrive between your designated time. If not, you will be in a very long line. Our time was 12-12:30. Arrived 12:15 No one in line. Walked to each station and on to the ship. Wonder if the base prices for the drinks will increase? All in all a nice cruise.

We were on Liberty for our 7th time June 3. Ship feels like home, lol. Was a 3 day cruise which we had only done once prior. Won’t do it again! Nothing to do with the ship, just a different clientele.  Anyway, the ship is clean, agree with Always Cruzin pretty much about everything. The casino was really a surprise, figured it would be really smoky, but wasn’t, and liked the layout with most of the non smoking machines across the promenade walkway from smoking. The entertainment was good. Didn’t do the shows, just the bands in lobby and alchemy area.

We are just back from The Liberty as well, June 27 through 30th.

LINES:  Despite what I read on CC about long lines on other ships I did not detect them to be any longer than usual, and we are Platinum so so have been on alot of cruises to be able to judge.

GUY'S BURGERS:  I do think I detect some sort of change, it tastes more like a reduction of spices than it does any downgrade of the beef, I had several of them.

CAESAR SALAD:  Excellent.  I ate mountains of it.

PIZZA:  I wish they would make a couple to just have for folks walking up, but it still tasted good to me.

INDIAN FOOD IN MDR:  Still excellent.

MDR AND LIDO FOOD QUALITY:  Still excellent, I detect no decline or cheapening up.

PRINCESS CAYS:  Next time I think we will rent on one those shade things that covers two lounge chairs.  It was nice to be fed there.  The German potato salad was excellent.

BRUNCH STEAK AND EGGS:  Steak was chewy but she says that change took place some time ago.  It was one bite and done for her.  I liked my Ranchos Huevos.

DELI:  Excellent.  The lines are always long at this and were here too.

MONGOLIAN WOK:  Nuts long lines, but they always are.

BRING BACK THE FREE INDIAN LUNCH AT THE BACK OF THE LIDO PLEASE.  Dump the pay seafood.  We left Norwegian because of this nickel dime stuff.

CABIN STEWARD:  Excellent

STAFF OVERALL:  Nice folks.

Typical on this carnival ship also. Buffet. Mashed potatoes one evening. Had fish and mixed rice vegies. No combination there. next evening. Turkey, no masked potatoes. Rice and baked potato. They always do that.

Sure would have like the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing. The usual. Why can't they ever figure that one out ?

Cruise with them on Thanksgiving and you'll get that. I think that's the only time they serve all those foods at once. I've never seen it any other time.

DH says it sounds like a retired Army mess hall Sgt. in charge.  Mind over matter..the Army doesn't mind, and I don't matter.😁

We too were on the 27th sailing. It was our first time with Carnival and being honest, I had a lot of friends tell me not to do a 3 or 4 day Carnival as it will be like watching drunks inside a pinball machine and bouncing everywhere! However, for me and my two girls it was fine, you could party if you wanted and have a quiet time if you wanted to. All I needed was the ability to relax and I could. Never saw any trouble (though we did see one guy settling his account Weds night, and escorted with his suitcase, so assume he was under some form of room arrest and met by Port's Canaveral's law enforcement and handcuffs on Friday!!).

MDR was fine, food varied from good to ok. One day I ordered the Grilled chicken, and yes, it was chicken grilled. No seasoning at all! 😂. I had to get them to tell me what the Indian dish was and it took a battle! However, i enjoyed the meals, and the desserts were fine. The Lido was a crapshoot, but my girls loved it, particularly the cakes.

My eldest was determined to try Guys burgers but declared it could have easily been called Bobs or Simons burgers. Nothing special she said!! I found it fine. Fries were fries.

I too found the lines weren't really a problem and I liked the fact I could get in line on the app for MDR breakfast and the Sea Brunch. We didn't try the Omelette stations, Mongolian Wok or the Deli, simply because we couldn't be bothered. The lines weren't super long though.

Staff were friendly, and quite frankly handled some folks really well. I witnessed a few really rude folks but they're everywhere sadly.

We're seasoned RCCL cruisers so wasn't sure what to expect. well, I wasn't disappointed. Could I have been, yes, but I wasn't paying premium prices.

Would I do it again? Hell yeah.

We're booked on the Mardi Gras in September, and that was booked last year so having now experienced Carnival, I'm looking forward to the big ship. I've done Harmony of the Seas so be curious on Mardi Gras. However, I'm NOT doing the roller coaster! Nope.

Fortunately we don't cruise for the food options or taste. We cruise because we love cruising, Simple equation! You have to find the food you like and stick with it. Sometime variety is not feasible.

Considering you can't just get up and leave the ship if you don't like the food, it's pretty important for most people even if it isn't for you.

Was on the Mardi Gras for Halloween and also this Halloween. No coaster the first time. But I will this time. I am 76 and my wife thinks I am nuts. Hope the weather will be permitting. You can hear the coaster loud in the buffet. Fun while I can.

Yes.  We preferred to chill on the pool deck vs indoors - so more outdoor (free) food choices would be good.  Could there be the old "buffet branch office" seen on many lines or another Guys or Mongolian Wok location or ?
