B2B question on turnaround day

 Share

Recommended Posts

We are doing our first B2B or Consecutive cruise on the upcoming Navigator of The seas cruise (Aug 15 -4 day/Aug 19-3 day).  A few questions I haven't been able to see an answer for in the forums.

1)As each cruise is less than 6 days, do you think we will need a covid test at some point as the total trip is 7 days(we are all vaccinated)?  Any guesses?

2) Are there any special procedures or notification we should tell RCL as these are 2 separate reservation # to let them know we are on a B2B?  which leads to...

3) We are currently in same room both cruises (unless we get a Royal Up bid accepted on the 4 day).  Would we be required to disembark(and pack luggage)  and re-embark later or would there be some expedited/easier process for consecutive cruisers?

thanks gurus.

1. Royal stopped testing B2B cruisers about 3 months ago.  No mention has been made of restarting that process.

2. Just let guest services know on your first cruise sltjough they should already know.

3. There us a dpecizm process.  You do not take your luggage off.  It either stays in your room or gets moved to your new room. Details on meeting times and procedures will be delivered to your stateroom during yje first cruise.

Just did my 1st B2B a couple weeks ago (also a 3 & 4-nighter) out of PC.

1) You will not have to test.

2) You can check with guest services to make sure but the system should automatically know you are consecutive cruisers. You will receive instructions in your cabin as far as what to do on TAD.

3) No need to pack. Just make sure your cabin attendant knows you’re on a B2B. You may or may not need to briefly disembark; it varies by port.

FWIW, we met in a lounge at 8:45am, hung out for a bit, a crew member went around to check everyone in for the 2nd leg & give out new sea passes, we disembarked for maybe 15 mins, then returned to the ship & were free to roam. 24 people on a Freedom class ship was somewhere between cool & spooky, lol.

I have done a few B2B’s on the Navigator earlier this year and believe the process is most likely still the same.

Your stateroom account for the first voyage will be closed and you will start with a ‘fresh’ account for your second sailing even if you are staying in the same cabin.

You will be given you ‘new’ seapass card at the meeting place noted in your turn around day letter/instructions. The ship was not consistent regarding if we needed to watch the safety videos again, sometimes they said they would check us in automatically and other times they asked us to re watch while waiting to be taken off ship to meet with customs. They will let you know.

A luncheon in the MDR for consecutive cruisers may be scheduled, it depends on if the minimum number of passengers has been met per the F&B Mgr.

At Los Angeles, you will be led to customs to show your passport or be ‘scanned’ off the ship and most likely then be corralled to a holding area in the terminal till the ship has been cleared and the ok for re-boarding has been given.  This process takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours , you will most likely board back around 11-11:30 am.

Additional info...(just recently off the Navigator b4b)...

- enjoy your v2b...you can take your time and have a relaxing breakfast...avoid the Windjammer if possible...MDR is better.

- b2b passengers met at 9am in the Star Lounge, deck 5.

- bring your passport, vaccine card, and old seapass card. As you enter the Star Lounge, they will give you your new seapass card...look at your vax card, then take your picture...then find a comfy seat. (There's coffee, water, and a few items available as you enter)

- Tip: there's really no need to be there exactly at 9am...you'll wait about an hour or until all passengers are cleared. You can use this time to watch the muster drill video.

- wheelchairs are available if needed.

- as soon as the ship is cleared, b2b passengers are escorted d6own to deck 4, use your old seapass card, walk off off the gangway, to the terminal...passport checked by Customs/BP...then you walk back onboard and use your new seapass card.

- you'll have an empty ship to yourself for about an hour.

- you can access your cabin at anytime. We tell our cabin steward to not worry about cleaning our cabin until that evening...TAD is busy, one less cabin for her to clean.

- the threshold for the special b2b lunch was 25 for the Navigator...we didn't have enough, so no special lunch.

- Note: The app or cruise planner doesn't show it...but if you have a dining package, Izumi and Hooked were open for lunch on TAD.

- Tip: This is the best time to try the slides, the flowrider, the empty pools and clean jacuzzis.

* Lastly, the 3-night sailing is a lively booze cruise with a much younger crowd. DON'T miss the "Love and Marriage" show...hilarious and wild with the younger audience. Happy sailing!

The Flowrider was open during that time?

No, not that early...it opens later.

But usually no long queues to the Flowrrider on TAD.

* Biker should've known what I meant but I will be careful next time.

Thanks for all the info folks, being familiar wit( the process will help us in our planning and knowing what to expect.  We have the UDP just for the second leg of the B2B so are looking forward to that trying out all the seafood that we can!

I'm on this thread, as I was researching to find out about turn-round day. I did one on Celebrity and wanted to see if RCL has a similar procedure.

I read your comment (in bold above). Can you please tell me where to find this information that RCL has stopped testing B2B cruisers? A bunch of us are on a B2B from Ravenna to Civitavecchia (6 nights) and then a transatlantic (15 nights) in October/November. According to their health page, we are required to be tested for both cruises. It seems crazy to have to test the night before we dock in Civitavecchia because we are already on the ship.

Thanks,

Monica

If you are on a B2B you will either not have to test or Royal will provide the test.  It depends on the country.  My response was more for US sailings not going to Canada or Bermuda

Thank you.

According to the health site, we will have to be tested the night before at our own expense.
